Abstract

Seit Beginn der 80er Jahre ist der Begriff des Controlling und dessen praktische Umsetzung in Wirtschaftsunternehmen selbstverständlich geworden. Mittlerweile haben auch in öffentlichen Einrichtungen Überlegungen dahingehend eingesetzt, Verwaltungsstrukturen und Betriebsformen mit Hilfe neuer Steruerungskonzepte zu restrukturieren. diese Entwicklung hat selbstverständlich auch vor Bibliotheken nicht haltgemacht, wobei dies vor allem für Bibliotheken von Städten und Gemeinden gilt, also für die 'Öffentliche Bibliothek'. Der vorliegende Beitrag skizziert die gegenwärtige 'betriebswirtschaftliche Situation' der Öffentlichen Bibliothek und gibt einen Überblick über mögliche Bereiche eines sinnvollen Einsatzes von Controlling-Instrumenten sowie über die hierfür geeigneten betriebswirtschaftlichen Instrumente
