    Abstract
    This article focuses on the inadequacies of the Library of Congress subclass PL8000-8844 for African languages. It highlights the shortcomings of the organization which is the alphabetical arrangement of the languages of Africa without consideration to the linguistic groups they belong to or their geographical areas of origin. In addition, the tight notation does not allow for all the aspects of the languages. Suggestions are made towards a better organization of the materials.
