    Abstract
Interdisciplinary subject areas such as gender studies present difficulties for their representation and structuring in indexing and information retrieval systems. This study looks into this domain based on four specialized thesauri in gender. The results point to a lack of uniformity in the terminology selected, and a high degree of conceptual dispersion of the models of the domain.
