- Abstract
- Examines the effect of the information revolution on college and university libraries within the framework of the 3 interrelated concepts of transformation, reengineering and organizational behaviour. Advances in technology, specifically through the Internet, have had a major impact on how information is perceived and obtained and, consequently, the role of the academic librarian is evolving and expanding. Discusses 4 areas which must be addressed by academic librarians in the transition toward a reformed environment; strategic planning; educational aspects of the Internet; policy development; and management of electronic data.
