    Abstract
    The Hypermedia/Time based Structuring Language (HyTime) is a recently adopted international standard (ISO/IEC 10744:1992). Presents the need and potential for HyTime, provides a brief explanation of its various facilities and shows how it may be applied to good effect in various situations, with particular reference to hypertext interchange from Micrcosm (an open hypertext system).
