    Abstract
    Discusses the technological developments of recent years, particularly in the area of telecommunications, and argues that they have fundamentally changed the way we generate, collect, disseminate, share and use information, and have had considerable impact on the roles of many types of libraries. Suggests that each library has the potential to be a dynamic provider of existing multimedia resources, as well as as effective node of a global information network providing access to all global information.
