    Abstract
Discusses principles for the development and strategic use of a community database Cleveland Area Network for Data and Organizing (CAN DO), operated at the Center for Urban Poverty and Social Change, Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. Such a community database system must go beyond a technological focus and should assist in building a community infrastructure. Presents applications of the system for social services planning and practice at the local level
