- Abstract
- The library has a centre for buying, cataloguing and storing microform, audio-visual media and other non-book material. Cataloguing of microform is difficult, because of the wide range of subjects covered and the lack of cataloguing aids. The library uses some external services for on-line cataloguing of individual monographs in large microform collections. Some magnetic tapes with little entries are also bought from the Online Computer Library Center in Ohio. All periodicals and serials are entered as individual titles. The periodicals catalogue is available on-line and in microfiche form. Microfiche copies of German dissertations are catalogued on-line as an external service of the Deutsche Bibliothek. Foreign dissertations are catalogued on-line in Göttingen. The recently published union catalogue of large microform collections in West Germany will assist in cataloguing in future.
