    Abstract
Discusses human factors to be taken into consideration when designing a user friendly information retrieval system. Identifies the different types of users with their diverse characteristics and requirements and the different user groups with their specific nedds with regard to information retrieval systems. Psychological theories and aspects of cognitive psychology related to online information retrieval systems are of specific importance

    Abstract
A new approach to the evaluation of information retrieval systems in terms of user friendliness has been devloped. Selective design principles for the interface will serve as the point of departure. These design principles have been incorporated in the model together with previously determined catageries and subcategories of user friedliness. Other aspects of user friendliness have also been incorporated into the model. Discusses the role of the designer and the end user during the design of a user friedly information retrieval system
