- Abstract
- The paper will discuss the following points: What do we mean by a 'good' catalogue, which requirements to the database design must be satisfied for the system to act as a good catalogue, which types of database management system should we use, can a catalogue be distributed on several computers and how will this influenece the performance, availability, maintenance, etc., how does a 'union' catalogue consusting of several independant catalogues on different computers act as 'a' catalogue?
