    Abstract
    In Nov. 89, the Archives and Special Collections Department of the Harriet Irving Library at the University of New Brunswick (UNB)in Fredericton was awarded a grant to catalogue 90.000 items comprising Lord Beaverbrook's Canadian correspondence. The UK counterpart to this fonds resides at the House of Lords Record Pffice in London, but this unit was donated to UNB by A.J.P. Taylor, the historian. The problem in cataloguing this fonds was to make the best use of available resources: a well-organized archival unit; a powerful online cataloguing system accessible internationally; and the consistent application of descriptive standards.
