    Abstract
    Research methodologies in several of the social sciences require the use of tests. When assisting social science researchers who seek information on tests, reference librarians do not, themselves, always have direct access to the instruments. Librarians should not only have the knowledge that various print and electronic database resources are available to gain needed information, but they should also have a strategy by which these sources can be searched in an expedient and thorough manner. This paper offers such a search strategy which can be used with the materials commonly found in a large research or specialized test library

    Abstract
    Many large universities maintain personality test collections. Often, a librarian is in charge of both the tests' acquisition and the organization. If a collection contains many personality tests and if the clientele utilizing these tests comes from various academic backgrounds, the librarian must cope with requests to find instruments by variable tested. The development and use of an arrangement of subject subheadings as retrieval points for personality tests becomes essential.

    Provides an index to facilitate finding information on instruments discussed in Robinson, Shaver and Wrightsman (1991). The book das a detailed table of contents, but no index. When required to find information quickly on a particular instrument, librarians and researchers would rather consult an index than peruse a lengthy table of contents
