- Describes the Croydon Libraries' Internet Project, undertaken by Croydon Central Library, which aimed to: assess the value of connecting public libraries to the Internet; clarify and rank methods of connections, comment on possible networking models; develop a programme of dissemination; and assist the advancement of a national strategy for public library networking generally and access to the Internet specifically. Reviews the individual activities undertaken in the CLIP project, including: access to the Internet; work with the Stumpers List (particularly during the staff training phase); staff access to the Internet; specific subject areas under focus (government publications, law, ceramics and the works of Billy Bragg); public access to the Internet, specific subject areas for public reference (spectroscopy, pictures of tigers, cochlear implants); access to the Internet for children; and the Croydon online Web sites
