    Abstract
This study analyzes Spanish research on Knowledge Organization from 2002 to 2010. The first stage involved extraction of records from national and international databases that were interrogated. After getting the pertinent records, they we re normalized and processed according to the usual bibliometric procedure. The results point to a mature specialty follow ing the path of the past decade. There is a remarkable increase of male vs. female authors per publication, although the gender gap is not big. It is also evident that ther e is a remarkable internationalization in publication and that the content map of the specialty is more varied than in the previous decade.

    Abstract
Knowledge organization (KO) is now facing new challenges due to the changes in society, the new ways of producing knowledge (inter and transdisciplinarity), the demands for organizing the knowledge outside the context of the KOSs and the need for building systems where transverse structures should be stressed and where socio-cultural integration is one of their key elements. On the other hand, the theoretical findings claimed by the postmodern thinking (as inter and transdisciplinarity) suggest that a change in the fundamentals of Knowledge organization (KO) and in the design and construction of KOSs should be undertaken. This work deals with the role of the KO in systems that exceed the function of information retrieval in the strict sense, the need for cultural integration in KOSs, and the contribution that transdisciplinarity and other recent theories can contribute to the foundations of KO and the design and construction of the KOSs.

    Abstract
This research studied the role of knowledge organization in the process of decision making in the field of energy efficiency and rational use of energy (EERUE). Theoretical contributions to knowledge organization and decision making are stressed. We chose to work with a type of methodology known as multiple criteria decision making-Saaty's analytical hierarchies process (AHP). This made it possible to develop a detailed analysis of the decision-making process and arrive at a hierarchical model. The model provided a structure representing the studied field, where an order of priority could be given to the decision-making process. The knowledge derived may be used in other fields of study such as information retrieval and knowledge representation.

    Abstract
Scientific specialties are influenced by socio-cultural contexts. This influence is not homogeneous but, on the contrary, it varies dependying on the specialty. The context can affect the theoretical and epistemological development of a scientific domain and, as a result, it may condition not only a robust, consistent theoretical framework but also good practice. Knowledge organization (KO) should be concerned with this situation and should consider these parameters for knowledge organization systems (KOS) design in order to create structures closer to reality. By doing this, there are possibilities to detect and avoid representing possible epistemological and theoretical biases in KOSs. As an example of what has been said, this paper take two domains: psychiatry and information science with emphasis in KO.
