- XML stellt eine Basistechnologie der Informationsverarbeitung dar. Sie liefert die Regeln zur anwendungs-, system- und medienneutralen Definition von Informationstypen. Der Autor reduziert deshalb XML einschließlich seiner Drivate - XLink und XPointer - nicht auf Internet-Technologien.
