    Abstract
Bibliometrics is understood as statistical analysis of scientific structures and processes. The analyzed data result from information and administrative actions. The demand for quality judgments or the discovering of new structures and information means that Bibliometrics takes on the role of being exploratory and decision supporting. To the extent that it has acquired important features of Data Mining, the analysis of text and internet material can be viewed as an additional challenge. In the sense of an evaluative approach Bibliometrics can also be seen to apply inference procedures as well as navigation tools.

    Content
This paper discusses former and expected general developments in the area of knowledge organization. A distinction should be made between long-term and mid-term developments. In addition to these results, significant past developments and their aspects were discussed at a Vienna discussion panel 2006 and at Bangalore and Juelich panels in 2007. These yield a list of expected or suggested future developments.

    Abstract
The German Internet Clearinghouse SocioGuide has changed to a database management system. Accordingly the metadata description scheme has become more detailed. The main information types are: institutions, persons, literature, tools, data sets, objects, topics, processes and services. Some of the description elements, such as title, resource identifier, and creator are universal, whereas others, such as primary/secondary information, and availability are specific to information type and cannot be generalized by referring to Dublin Core elements. The quality of Internet sources is indicated implicitly by characteristics, such as extent, restriction, or status. The SocioGuide is managed in DBClear, a generic system that can be adapted to different source types. It makes distributed input possible and contains workflow components.
