    Abstract
Library catalogues can be improved by the inclusion of analytical entries, based on contents pages, for individual articles contained in composite works: books containing 2 or more distinct works by the same or different authors. Examines the proportion of composite works and the numbers of articles in these books in 2 different university libraries: Roskilde University, Denmark; and the National Library of Education, Denmark. Library type, publication language, subject field, and date of publication were examines, and results compared to previous studies. The proportion of composite works was found to be between 10% and 20% and the number of articles varies from 20 to 30 articles per book. Results suggest that libraries can add access to between 200% and 600% more works to their catalogues, without buying any more books, simply by adding tables of contents of these composite works. However, this increase in access points may be at the cost of low precision and information overload, caused by the large amount of text in the individual bibliographic records. Suggests that libraries should create separate files for the analytics to be accessed at the discretion of the users
