    Discusses the information requirements of small and medium sized companies and outlines the range of tools available to meet these requirements (catalogues, databases, databanks, etc.). To provide effective axnd competitive services, libraries of small and medium sized companies need to work together, and perhaps form information associations.     Abstract
    In May 95 the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung's library was computerized, using Allegro software, MAB structures and the North Rhine Westphalian category scheme with local adaptations. Conversion of the old catalogue for 500.000 media is now complete. The library took over 120.000 volumes from the former Deutsche Gewerkschaftsbund in 1995; seperate conversion of this catalogue should be completed in 1996. 50.000 volumes were entered in an interim catalogue, for amalgamation soon
