- Abstract
- Examines restrictions on international cooperation over information transfer, such as the users' Inability to express needs properly pr the arrival of irrelevant information or their lack of contact with information sources-publishers, booksellers and libraries. Covers the inernational cooperation, including the involvment of the UNO, UNESCO, IZWTL, IFLA, ICA and FID, as well as legal barriers over protected information including industrial secrets and copyright. Also discusses the different national financial contraints on library funding, commodity price rises in capitalist countries, geographical barriers limiting telex and fax links, regional courier services, international jounal echanges, language barriers, including the growing number of languages ued in scientific publications, and the possible contribution by libraries to the dismatling of informtion barriesrs, especially the IFLA nuclear programme.
