- Abstract
- Altavista, one of the major search engines for the WWW has recently been made available by DEC in a version suitable for local use (AltaVistaPX). The system can be used to search files on hard disk or via networks. Unlike similar systems AltaVistaPX is not run as a separate program, but is embedded in Netscape or other browser, and can be added to a list of 'bookmarks'. Payment ($ 30,-) and downloading of the file can be made online
