    Abstract
    Topics concerning the Classification of Byzantine literature and, generally, of Byzantine texts are discussed, analyzed and made clear. The time boundaries of this period are described as well as the kinds of published material. Schedule PA (Supplement) of the Library of Congress Classification is discussed and evaluated as far as the handling of Byzantine literature is concerned. Schedule PA is also mentioned, as well as other relevant categories. Based on the results regarding the manner of handling Classical literature texts, it is concluded that a) Early Christian literature and the Fathers of the Church must be excluded from Class PA and b) in order to achieve a uniform, continuous, consistent and reliable classification of Byzantine texts, they must be treated according to the method proposed for Classical literature by the Library of Congress in Schedule PA.

    Abstract
    Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to focus on duplicate record detection algorithms used for detection in bibliographic databases. Design/methodology/approach - Individual algorithms, their application process for duplicate detection and their results are described based on available literature (published articles), information found at various library web sites and follow-up e-mail communications. Findings - Algorithms are categorized according to their application as a process of a single step or two consecutive steps. The results of deletion, merging, and temporary and virtual consolidation of duplicate records are studied. Originality/value - The paper presents an overview of the duplication detection algorithms and an up-to-date state of their application in different library systems.

    Abstract
    This paper aims to explore, analyze, and assess the Library of Congress PA (Supplement) Schedule as it pertains to Greek folk (laiki) literature, Modern Greek poetry and Greek folk (dimotika) songs in particular. The notions folk literature, poetry and folk songs are discussed and elaborated upon. Particular effort is made to analyze the case of Byzantine folk (dimodi) literature. Last, in order to make the use of LC classification schedules more effective and accurate, clarifications and suggestions are made for the classification of folk literature.
