    Abstract
    Reports on a US Special Libraries Association 1997 State of the Art Institute entitled 'Knowledge Mangement: a new Competitive Asset' and looks at the relevance of the issues discussed for the one person librarian in a corporate context. Considers various definitions of knowledge management, and recommends that the best route to participation in it for one person librarians is through exploiting their own expertise in the organizational 'food chain': they should become involved, for example, in the construction of an organizational intranet, and should focus their main effort on the 5 or 6 key people who require critical information which only the librarian can obtain
