    Abstract
    Nur wenige Dokumentationsmethoden werden mit dem Namen ihrer Entwickler assoziiert. Ausnahmen sind Melvil Dewey (DDC), S.R. Ranganathan (Colon Classification) - und Norbert Henrichs. Seine Textwortmethode ermöglicht die Indexierung und das Retrieval von Literatur aus Fachgebieten, die keine allseits akzeptierte Fachterminologie vorweisen, also viele Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften, vorneweg die Philosophie. Für den Einsatz in der elektronischen Philosophie-Dokumentation hat Henrichs in den späten sechziger Jahren die Textwortmethode entworfen. Er ist damit nicht nur einer der Pioniere der Anwendung der elektronischen Datenverarbeitung in der Informationspraxis, sondern auch der Pionier bei der Dokumentation terminologisch nicht starrer Fachsprachen

    Abstract
    Ovid Technologies speist sich aus unterschiedlichen Unternehmensgeschichten; die Erfahrungen von BRS, SilverPlatter, Ovid und Wolters-Kluwer ergänzen sich in den derzeit betriebenen zwei Plattformen Ovid und SilverPlatter. Ovid spricht vor allem praktizierende wie forschende Spezialisten in der medizinisch-biowissenschaftlichen Sparte an, während SilverPlatter eher auf den gesamten akademischen Betrieb abzielt. Wir konzentrieren uns in diesem Artikel auf die Ovid-Plattform und vernachlässigen SilverPlatter. Das Interessante an Ovid ist die Einheit von bibliographischen Nachweisdaten, Volltexten und praxisrelevanten klinischen Entscheidungshilfen. U.E. lohnt die Retrievaloberfläche von Ovid und die hier praktizierte durchgehende Verlinkung von Nachweisen und Volltexten und von Volltexten untereinander einer näheren Betrachtung. Unsere Ergebnisse stützen sich auf den Fragebogen, Gespräche mit Jens Gräßler, National Sales Manager Germany, vom deutschen Ovid-Büro in Berlin sowie auf Tests im März und im April 2004.

    Abstract
    Themenentdeckung und -verfolgung (topic detection and tracking; TDT) fasst unterschiedliche Dokumente zu einem Thema zusammen und bietet dem Nutzer zunächst das Thema und erst in einem zweiten Schritt die einzelnen Dokumente zur Anzeige an. TDT ist nützlich bei Nachrichten sowie bei Blog-Einträgen. Ein bekanntes Beispiel ist Google News. Der Artikel bespricht den Forschungsstand zu TDT und diskutiert den Einsatz von TDT bei News-Informationsdiensten wie z.B. Factiva oder LexisNexis. Dort ist TDT zweifach wichtig: Erstens ist es (analog zu Google News) bei Profildiensten einsetzbar, zweitens ist es möglich, Dokumente zum gleichen Thema in einen Ordner zu klassieren, um bei einer retrospektiven Recherche die Treffermenge geordnet nach unterschiedlichen Themen anzubieten (und dies ohne Nutzung einer Dokumentationssprache).

    Einleitungsartikel zu einem Themenheft. Informationswissenschaft umfasst als Kerndisziplinen Information Retrieval, Wissensrepräsentation, Informetrie (einschließlich Web Science), Wissensmanagement und die Erforschung von Informations- bzw. Wissensgesellschaft und der Informationsmärkte (Stock & Stock, 2012). In vielen Forschungsprojekten befassen sich Informationswissenschaftler mit Themen, die auch von anderen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen bearbeitet werden.     Wenn ein Unternehmen oder eine Forschungseinrichtung externe Informationen benötigt, so gibt es eine interne Lösung, die Einrichtung entsprechender informationswirtschaftlicher Infrastruktur, sowie das Outsourcing, derzeit meist das Ansprechen eines professionellen Information Broker. Gibt es bei der externen Lösung Alternativen, insbesondere der kostengünstigen Art? Wenn eine Privatperson ein Informationsproblem hat, wer fungiert als professioneller Ansprechpartner? Zur Zeit gibt es nur wenige für jedermann bezahlbare Möglichkeiten, sich Informationen aus kommerzeillen Online-Archiven beschaffen zu lassen oder selbst zu recherchieren.     Abstract
    Selten wurde ein Dienst so stark diskutiert wie 'RealNames', da sowohl seine Suchwörter als auch die darauf aufsetzenden Links auf Homepages verkauft werden. Machen wir uns doch nichts vor: Das WWW ist ein kommerzielles Unternehmen, die Dienstleistungen müssen finanziert werden. Und warum soll nicht ein Privatunternehmen mit Inhaltserschließung Gewinne erzielen? RealNames mit seinem 'Internet Keyword System' ist eine interessante Idee, das Retrieval nach Homepages zielgenau durchzuführen. Was bringt RealNames den Nutzern? Wann sollte jemand, der Sites im WWW unterhält, Suchwörter und Links bei RealNames abonnieren (und was kostet das)? Im Oktober 1999 haben wir RealNames genauer angeschaut. Analysiert wurde das gezielte Retrieval nach Homepages bei AltaVista, Fireball und bei RealNames.com
