- Abstract
- Als "Kerngeschäft" des bibliothekarischen Berufsbildes ist die Sacherschließung starken Veränderungen unterworfen; als Kern des Metadatenangebots ist ein intellektueller Input unverzichtbar, gerade weil mit maschinellen Verfahren sehr viel Mehrwert daraus generiert werden kann. In dem Vortrag wird versucht, aus allgemeiner Perspektive den funktionellen Mehrwert der Sacherschließung zu beleuchten. Das Zusammenwirken der intellektuellen Erschließung und verschiedener Formen automatischer Metadatenerzeugung und -vermehrung muss neu justiert und standardisiert werden. Besondere Bedeutung haben Normdaten mit ihrem Potenzial für die Linked-Data-Welt; zugleich muss aber auch die Datenbasis für die durch Suchmaschinentechnologie geprägten Rechercheumgebungen quantitativ verbreitert und qualitativ aufgewertet werden.

Jahrhundert - Gesamtprobleme und Perspektiven. Man beachte die Aussage: "Die maschinelle Indexierung ordnet Schlagwörter bzw. Deskriptoren zu Dokumenten automatisch zu, d.h. mit Hilfe von Computerprogrammen und in der Regel von Wörterbüchern." (S.366), die nach wie vor ein problematische Verknüpfung zwischen intellektuellen Indexierungsergebnissen (Schlagwörter, Deskriptoren) und maschinellen Vorgehensweisen herstellt.

- Abstract
- Der letzte der verbalen Sacherschließung aus Verbundperspektive gewidmete Beitrag in dieser Zeitschrift erschien 1983.1 Seitdem haben sich Bedingungen, Leistungen und Perspektiven dieses Bereichs auch ohne allzu spektakuläre Neuerungen deutlich verändert und erweitert. Der folgende Bericht, der Rück- und Ausblick zu verbinden sucht, nimmt ein Jubiläum zum Anlass: seit nunmehr 25 Jahren wird kooperative Schlagwortkatalogisierung im Bibliotheksverbund Bayern betrieben.

- Abstract
- Es wird ein Überblick gegeben über Grundzüge des für die verbale Sacherschließung im deutschsprachigen Raum zunehmend verwendeten Regelwerks RSWK und die für dessen Anwendung entwickelten Hilfsmittel, vor allem die Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD), eine thesaurusartige, aber offene Normdatei, die kooperativ durch die Deutsche Bibliothek und mehrere Verbünde geführt wird. Die Ansetzung von Begriffen basiert auf deren Nachweis in Nachschlagewerken sowie auf normierenden Verwendungsregeln, die auch Analogien vorsehen. Die Einbeziehung zahlreicher Fachleute in die Terminologiekontrolle dient der wissenschaftlichen Korrektheit und Aktualität. - Im Bereich der Kunst liegt der Schwerpunkt neben den Sachbegriffen und Personennamen auf den Werken der bildenden Kunst, für die es detaillierte Ansetzungsregeln gibt. In allen Schlagwortkategorien wird das Retrieval durch zahlreiche Verweisungen erleichtert. Obwohl die RSWK nicht allen individuellen Anforderungen verschiedener Spezialbibliotheken genügen können. dürfte durch geringe Modifikationen auf der Basis der SWD auch eine Verknüpfung von Literatur- und Objekterschließung im Kunstbereich möglich sein

- "Scheint derzeit das Konzept von Bibliothekskatalogen auf dem 'Weg zu sein, bis zur Unkenntlichkeit mit dem Universum weltweiter Informationsnetze und Fachdatenbanken zu verschmelzen, so ist zu fragen, ob nicht angesichts immer bequemeren Zugriffs auf das Ferne und Spezielle die Besinnung auf Qaulitäten dieses 'Vorfeldes' nottut. Oder sind sachliche Suche in deutscher Sprache, interdisziplinäre Ausrichtung, komfortabler Einstieg in ein Thema, Orientierung am lokalen Bestand als Kriterium der Literaturerschließung bereits überholt? Zurückgreifend auf die These, daß es im Online-Katalog einen Kernbestand qualitativer Erschließung mit Indexaten geben soll, der - bei stets möglichem Ausgreifen auf Volltext- und Freitextretrieval - durch 'Auswahl' Klarheit und Überschaubarkeit in der Flut atomisierte Informationen sichert, könnten in dieser mit höherem intellektuellen Aufwand gepflegten Datenschicht dann auch lokale Bestände und Besonderheiten zur Geltung kommen
