Abstract: Obgleich der Wandel vom gedrucktem zum digitalen Wort noch immer nicht abgeschlossen ist und viele Medien weiterhin gedruckt erscheinen, vertrieben und gesammelt werden, ist absehbar, dass in Zukunft alle wesentliche Publikation und Kommunikation digital stattfinden wird. Dieser Wandel, dessen Bedeutung noch am ehesten mit der Einführung des Buchdrucks mit beweglichen Lettern verglichen werden kann, erfordert eine Neubestimmung mehrerer Grundbegriffe der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft. Eine zentrale Rolle spielen dabei die Begriffe der Information, der Publikation und des Dokumentes.

Abstract

Social Tagging als freie Verschlagwortung durch Nutzer im Web wird immer häufiger mit der Idee des Semantic Web in Zusammenhang gebracht. Wie beide Konzepte in der Praxis konkret zusammenkommen sollen, bleibt jedoch meist unklar. Dieser Artikel soll hier Aufklärung leisten, indem die Kombination von Social Tagging und Semantic Web in Form von Semantic Tagging mit dem Simple Knowledge Organisation System dargestellt und auf die konkreten Möglichkeiten, Vorteile und offenen Fragen der Semantischen Indexierung eingegangen wird.

Abstract

Wer in der gegenwärtigen Situation des allgemeinen »Information Overload« für neue Internetdienste wirbt, wird mit größter Skepsis zu rechnen haben. Nicht noch mehr! Viele der Dienste, von denen im Folgenden die Rede sein wird, sind gegenwärtig selbst kommunalen EDV-Spezialisten unbekannt. Es spricht aber einiges dafür, dass zurzeit eine »heimliche Medienrevolution« (Erik Möller) im Internet stattfindet. Neue Formate und Plattformen setzen sich durch, die in erster Linie auf der Zusammenarbeit vieler Menschen beruhen. Jochen Dudeck und Jakob Voß berichten vor diesem Hintergrund über die besonderen Möglichkeiten der »Sozialen Software«* in Bibliotheken.
