    Description of an attempt to improve OPAC subject access at Kobe University Library using Nippon Decimal Classification, 8th ed. (NDC8). Examines the theoretical aspects of using a classification for subject searching, then explains the Kobe system. Using the NDC8 machine-readable data file, a database was created for the OPAC, incorporating class numbers and subject headings.
