    Abstract
    Examines the historical relationship between library and information science and communication science with special reference to academic lineage. Communication science developed during the 1930s in a time of prosperity for the mass media, that communication research had a wide impact on library science at the time, and communication theory provided a foundation for the reconsideration of the relationship between library and information science and communication science
