    Abstract
    Authority control is the most important part of the linguistic support of a library automated system. Linguistic support comprises all devices based upon natural or documentary languages used for creating; indexing and retrieving bibliographic records. The linguistic support limits the variation in the indexing language and search formulations. This is the essence of authority control.
