- Abstract
- Die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz (IK) ist eine Kernaufgabe wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken. Entspricht diese häufig geäußerte und vielerorts akzeptierte Aussage tatsächlich der Realität? Ist aus der Kernaufgabe eine Kernleistung geworden? Nachdem die AG Informationskompetenz im Bibliotheksverbund Bayern (AGIK BAY) in ihrer Studie zum Informations- und Schulungsangebot der Hochschulbibliotheken die Anforderungen und Sichtweisen der Benutzer untersucht hat, soll nun auch quantitativ die Bedeutung der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz dokumentiert werden. Die Angaben in der Deutschen Bibliotheksstatistik (DBS) allein sind dazu nicht ausreichend. Deshalb hat die AGIK BAY zusammen mit den Arbeitsgruppen in Nordrhein-Westfalen und Baden-Württemberg 13 Kenndaten erarbeitet, die zum ersten Mal 2007 in einer bayernweiten IK-Statistik abgefragt wurden.

- Abstract
- Die Hochschulbibliotheken in Nordrhein-Westfalen betrachten die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz als wichtige Zukunftsaufgabe und beschäftigen sich seit mehr als zwei Jahren intensiv mit diesem Thema. Das Hochschulbibliothekszentrum NRW (HBZ) führt in enger Abstimmung mit der AG Informationskompetenz Fortbildungsveranstaltungen durch und unterstützt damit die Bibliotheken in ihrem Vorhaben, die Angebote bedarfsgerecht weiter zu entwickeln, professioneller zu gestalten und in die Hochschullehre zu integrieren. Nach einem ersten Workshop im Dezember 2002, der sich schwerpunktmäßig mit der Formulierung von Standards und mit Marketingkonzepten beschäftigte, und mehreren Seminaren zu speziellen Fragestellungen trafen sich die Multiplikatorinnen und Multiplikatoren aus zwanzig nordrhein-westfälischen Hochschulbibliotheken vom 8. bis 9. Dezember 2003 wieder in Bergisch-Gladbach. Entsprechend dem Charakter eines Workshop nahm die Gruppenarbeit mit konkreten Arbeitsaufträgen einen breiten Raum ein. Aus der Fülle der behandelten Fragestellungen haben wir drei Themen herausgegriffen und berichten über die Auftaktveranstaltung im Plenum sowie über die Ergebnisse zweier Arbeitsgruppen, die sich mit der Formulierung eines Gesamtkonzepts der Hochschule zur Informationskompetenz und mit der quantitativen Evaluierung der Schulungsangebote im Rahmen einer differenzierten Statistik beschäftigten. Ein weiteres wichtiges Anliegen war die Erarbeitung von Instrumenten zur qualitativen Evaluierung der Schulungsaktivitäten. Die konzipierten Fragebögen werden derzeit mit professioneller Unterstützung überarbeitet und sollen im Sommersemester 2004 testweise in mehreren nordrhein-westfälischen Hochschulbibliotheken eingesetzt werden.

- Das bedeutet allerdings nicht unbedingt, dass es sich um einfache Fragen handelt. Eine typische Frage lautete beispielsweise: »Wo finde ich Informationen über das aserbaidschanische Gesellschaftsrecht?« Oder ein ganz anderes Thema: »In Sankt Petersburg befindet sich eine kleine Ausstellung alltäglicher Gegenstände (Haushalt, Nahrungsmittel, Kleidung) der ersten Jahrzehnte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Wenige Jahre nach der großen Revolution wurden diese Gegenstände in einem Raum versteckt und eingemauert und dann vergessen. Vor etwa zehn Jahren ist der Raum wieder entdeckt worden, und die dort gefundenen Gegenstände werden nun ausgestellt. Wie heißt dieses Museum und welche Adresse hat es?« Häufig sind die Fragen hingegen auch ausgesprochen regionaler Natur: »Ich suche einen Fachbetrieb in Schleswig-Holstein, bei dem ich Weidenruten erwerben kann.« Unseriöse oder sonst unerfreuliche Mails gingen übrigens bislang nur sehr selten ein - wir hoffen natürlich, dass das auch so bleibt. Insgesamt gehört die E-Mail-Auskunft zu den von den Lektorinnen und Lektoren am meisten gelobten Angeboten der DIB. Dem entspricht auch die Beurteilung durch den Artikel von Haike Meinhardt in der Januar-Ausgabe von BuB. Das Urteil lautete dort: Die Mailauskunft ist eines der starken Argumente für die Internetbibliothek. Und der Katalog? »Ein guter Einstieg für die eigene Recherche ist die Internetbibliothek sicherlich, und so manchen wird ihr Angebot zufrieden stellen können«, lautet Meinhardts Urteil, und darüber freuen wir uns natürlich sehr! Der geplante Endbestand von sechs- bis achttausend Links ist jedenfalls schon bald erreicht. Über eine Statistik-Funktion lässt sich auch ermitteln, wie häufig die einzelnen Rubriken des Katalogs angeklickt werden. Ergebnis: In der Rangliste führt »Literatur & Sprache« mit 17 066 Klicks vor »Nachschlagewerke & Bibliotheken« (13 840), »Aktuelles« (11 972), »Computer & Internet« (11008) und »Andere Länder & Reisen« (10 944). Schlusslichter sind »Sport« mit 5 642 Klicks, »Natur & Umwelt« (5 690), »Haus & Garten« (5 521), »Regionales« (5 435) sowie »Wirtschaft & Kapitalanlage« (5 384)."
