    Abstract
    Host-Retrieval und Global Research war das Thema der 20. Online-Tagung der DGD im Mai 1998. Erfahrungen und Einschätzungen von mehr als 60 Referentinnen und Referenten zu Fragen der kommerziellen sowie der innerbetrieblichen Informationsrecherche, zum internationalen Informationsangebot, zur Informationsvermittlung mit neuen Ansätzen, zur Geschäftsabwicklung über das Internet oder zur Informationsbeschaffung in den Bereichen Chemie, Pharma, Biologie, Medizin, Patente und Wirtschaft erwarteten die Kongreßbesucher. Der Tagungsband vereinigt über 30 der dort gehaltenen Vorträge. Es wird der Bogen gespannt von der Informationsbereitstellung in klassischen gut erschlossenen und aufbereiteten Informationsdatenbanken bis hin zu tagesaktueller Verbrauchsinformation im WWW. Das Thema digitale Bibliotheken wird ebenso behandelt wie neue Verfahren des Wissensmanagements in Unternehmen und Suchmaschinen im WWW
