- Abstract
- Dieses Buch bringt eine Einführung in die Katalogisierung für öffentliche Bibliotheken, der zweiten Auflage liegt die autorisierte Ausgabe der "Regeln für öffentliche Bibliotheken, RAK-ÖB" von 1986 zugrunde. Der Stoff wird gemäß dem Prinzip, das die Autorin in ihrer praktischen Arbeit verwendet hat, dargestellt: 1) Voranstellung der theoretischen Grundlagen; diese sind durch viele Beispiele erläutert; 2) praktische Beispiele anhand von kopierten Haupttitelseiten mit umfangreichen Erläuterungen und Angabe der betreffenden Paragraphen. Die Beispiele zur Theorie und auch die praktischen Beispiele wurden weitgehend aus dem Bestand einer typischen öffentlichen Bibliothek ausgewählt. Neben den allgemeinen RAK-ÖB-Bestimmungen werden auch die Alternativregeln, die deutschsprachige Ansetzungen der Namen und Sachtitel zulassen, berücksichtigt. Die zweite Auflage wurde auf die Ausgabe von 1986 der Regeln ausgerichtet, dadurch ergaben sich Änderungen und Erweiterungen. Auch ein Abschnitt über die Katalogisierung von Bilderbüchern wurde aufgenommen. Ziel des Buches ist die Einführung der Bibliothekare der öffentlichen Bibliotheken in das neue Regelwerk. Es ist sowohl für Studenten als auch für Bibliothekare, die sich den Stoff selbst aneignen wollen, gedacht. Außerdem vermittelt das Buch den Bibliothekaren, die sich entweder für die allgemeinen RAK-ÖB-Regeln oder die Alternativregeln entscheiden müssen, einen Überblick, wo die Alternativregeln Anwendung finden und wieviel einfacher und praxisnäher sie sind.

- Abstract
- Die automatische Indexierung von Dokumenten für das Information Retrieval, d. h. die automatische Charakterisierung von Dokumentinhalten mittels Deskriptoren (Schlagwörtern) ist bereits seit über 25 Jahren ein Gebiet theoretischer und experimenteller Forschung. Dagegen wurde erst im Oktober 1985 mit der Anwendung der automatischen Indexierung in der Inputproduktion für ein großes Retrievalsystem begonnen. Es handelt sich um die Indexierung englischer Referatetexte für die Physik-Datenbasis des Informationszentrums Energie, Physik, Mathematik GmbH in Karlsruhe. In dem vorliegenden Buch beschreiben Mitarbeiter der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt ihre Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten, die zu dieser Pilotanwendung geführt haben.

- "Rombach präsentiert zur Grundlage seiner Meditationen über das gegenwärtig zukünftige Denken eine in sich erstaunlich konsequente, aber keineswegs gewaltsame Interpretation der gesamten abendländischen Philosophiegeschichte. Freilich treibt er auch Philosophiegeschichte in einem unüblichen Stil. Ebensowenig wie es ihm um eine Bestandsaufnahme der in unserer Zeit publizierten Philosophie geht, zielt er auf die Vermittlung von Kenntnissen über die Philosophie früherer Zeiten ab. Statt dessen fragt er, wie Philosophie als solche und im ganzen nicht nur gegenwärtig ist, sondern je gegenwärtig war. Hinter dieser Frage steht die zentrale These, Philosophie bedeute nicht zu allen Zeiten dasselbe. Damit soll durchaus nicht die banale Tatsache festgestellt werden, daß die Philosophen verschiedener Zeiten zu verschiedenen Ergebnissen gekommen sind. Vielmehr ist Rombachs Meinung die, daß das Wesen der Philosophie epochal geprägt ist, daß sowohl ihr "Standort" wie ihre "Bewegungsform" sich von Epoche zu Epoche wandeln. Diese These ist alles andere als banal, sie ist schockierend und revolutionär." VOGEL 1984) ist ein Veranstaltungszyklus zur Informationslinguistik entwickelt worden. Die curriculare Planung zu diesem informationswissenschaftlichen Teilgebiet war stark eingebunden in die gesamte Organisation des Aufbaustudiums bzw. Diplomstudiengangs Informationswissenschaft, wobei insbesondere zwei Faktoren einen bestimmenden Einfluss auf die Definition der Lehrinhalte hatten: - die inhaltlichen Anforderungen des entwickelten Berufsbilds Informationsvermittlung und Informationsmanagemsnt - der zulaessige Zeitrahmen des Diplom-Studiengangs Informationswissenschaft (2 Jahre) und die nicht geringen Aufwaende fuer das uebrige Ausbildungsprogramm Die Informationslinguistik ist somit aus einer stark funktionalen Sicht heraus definiert worden, die den Leistungsbeitrag zur umfassenden informationswissenschaftlichen Ausbildung letztlich mehr betont als dis ziplinaere Eigendynamik. Die jetzt realisierte Verbindung aus obligatorischen und fakultativen Veranstaltungen zur Informationslinguistik erlaubt jedoch den an entsprechenden Fachfragen interessierten Studenten durchaus eine qualitativ ausreichende Vertiefung im Rahmen des informationswissenschaftlichen Lehrangebots, das ggf. noch durch Veranstaltungen der unterschiedlichen linguistischen Abteilungen an der Universitaet Konstanz ergaenzt werden kann. Schliesslich ist einer der Forschungsschwerpunkte des Lehrstuhls fuer Informationswissenschaft, das automatische Abstracting-Projekt TOPIC (HAHN/REIMER 1985), eindeutig dem Bereich Informationslinguistik zuzuordnen, der engagierten Studenten weitere Optionen fuer eine spezialisierte Ausbildung und - im Rahmen von durch Studien- und Diplomarbeiten klar abgesteckten Aufgaben - eigenstaendige Forschungs- und Entwicklungstaetigkeit eroeffnet. Informationslinguistik wird am Lehrstuhl fuer Informationswissenschaft der Universitaet Konstanz nun in folgender Konstellation gelehrt:
(1) "Informationslinguistik I: Einfuehrung in das linguistische Information Retrieval" (2) "Informationslinguistik II: linguistische und statistische Verfahren im experimentellen Information Retrieval" (3) "Intelligente Informationssysteme: Verfahren der Kuenstlichen Intelligenz im experimentellen Information Retrieval" Kursabschnitt zu natuerlichsprachlichen Systemen (4) Spezialkurse zum automatischen Uebersetzen, Indexing und Retrieval, Abstracting usf. dienen zur Vertiefung informationslinguistischer Spezialthemen Die Kurse (1) und (3) gehoeren zu dem Pool der Pflichtveranstaltungen aller Studenten des Diplom-Studiengangs Informationswissenschaft, waehrend (2) und (4) lediglich zu den Wahlpflichtveranstaltungen zaehlen, die aber obligatorisch fuer die Studenten des Diplomstudiengangs sind, die ihren Schwerpunkt (z.B. in Form der Diplomarbeit) im Bereich Informationslinguistik suchen - fuer alle anderen Studenten zaehlen diese Kurse zum Zusatz angebot an Lehrveranstaltungen.
Das vorliegende Skript entspricht dem Inhalt des Kurses "Informationslinguistik I" im WS 1982/83. Es ist im Maerz 1983 inhaltlich abgeschlossen und im Januar 1985 lediglich redaktionell ueberarbeitet worden. Die Erstellung des Skripts entspricht einem dezidierten Auftrag des Projekts "Informationsvermittlung", der die Entwicklung geeigneter Lehrmaterialien zum informationswissenschaftlichen Aufbaustudium vorsah. Aufgrund des engen Projektzeitrahmens (1983-85) kann das Skript nicht in dem Masse voll ausgereift und ausformuliert sein, wie es gaengigen Standards entspraeche. Dennoch hat es sich in den jaehrlichen Neuauflagen des Kurses trotz wechselnder Dozenten als weitgehend stabiles inhaltliches Geruest bewaehrt. Nichtsdestotrotz sollte gerade die Veroeffentlichung des Skripts als Anregung dienen, kritische Ko mmentare, Anmerkungen und Ergaenzungen zu diesem curricularen Entwurf herauszufordern, um damit die weitere disziplinaere Klaerung der Informationslinguistik zu foerdern.
