    Abstract
This study investigated name changes of women authors to determine how they were represented in indexes and cited references and identify problem areas. A secondary purpose of the study was to investigate whether or not indexing services were using authority control and how this influenced the search results. The works of eight library science authors who had published under multiple names were examined. The researchers compared author names as they appeared on title pages of publications versus in four online databases and in bibliographies by checking 380 publications and 1,159 citations. Author names were correctly provided 81.22% of the time in indexing services and 90.94% in citation lists. The lowest accuracy (54.55%) occurred when limiting to publications found in Library Literature. The highest accuracy (94.18%) occurred with works published before a surname changed. Author names in indexes and citations correctly matched names on journal articles more often than for any other type of publication. Indexes and citation style manuals treated author names in multiple ways, often altering names substantially from how they appear on the title page. Recommendations are made for changes in editorial styles by indexing services and by the authors themselves to help alleviate future confusion in author name searching.

    Abstract
Cataloging is compared to descriptive bibliography, to enumerative bibliography and abstracting and indexing services, as well as to metadata created by Web search engines or nonprofessionals at sites such as Amazon.com. These four types of metadata are compared with regard to object of the description, functions, scope, number of copies examined, collective vs. individual creation, standardization, authority control, evidence, amount of descriptive detail, degression, time span the data is intended to last, and degree of evaluation.

    Abstract
The German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) developed a Web-based platform for audiovisual media. The audiovisual portal optimizes access to scientific videos such as computer animations and lecture and conference recordings. TIB's AV-Portal combines traditional cataloging and automatic indexing of audiovisual media. The article describes metadata standards for audiovisual media and introduces the TIB's metadata schema in comparison to other metadata standards for non-textual materials. Additionally, we give an overview of multimedia retrieval technologies used for the Portal and present the AV-Portal in detail as well as the additional value for libraries and their users.

    Abstract
French law on digital legal deposit covers websites and online content as well as ebooks. It imposes no obligation to produce a bibliography, indexing being sufficient. But despite their innovative characteristics, ebooks are still books, and their metadata is closer to that of printed materials than to the web indexing. To set up an ebook deposit workflow, the BnF benefits from its experience with digital documents and its tradition of legal deposit. This is to present the questions that it faces when dealing with the cataloging of ebooks and the management of their metadata, and the solutions that are emerging.

    Abstract
Originally published in 1979 as a title in the Outlines of Modern Librarianship' series this new edition has been expanded and updated in the light of recent developments in this rapidly developing field of librarianship, with particular reference to automation. As a consequence, this edition is substantially more than an outline of the subject. The authors take the reader through a comprehensive exposition of cataloguing - the definitions, arrangement and role of the catalogue: the history of its development; standardization and AACR2; the subject approach via pre-and post-coordinate indexing; analysis; filing rules and methods; the physical forms of the catalogue; the use of the computer in cataloguing; the role of networks; the management of cataloguing; and the relevance of book indexing. There is a detailed index, as well as a list of abbreviations and acronyms and a glossary of terms.

    Abstract
Persons with the same name cause confusion and problems for bibliographic access. To minimize the confusion and problems, rules and conventions have been used in indexing and cataloguing. From a historical perspective, discusses what kinds of problems originated from these rules in cataloguing, especially from 'undifferentiated name' treatment used in the current cataloging code AACR2. Also proposes a workable rule or a modified existing rule dealing with indifferentiated names
