    Abstract
A materialized hypertext view is a hypertext containing data coming from a database and whose pages are stored in files. A Web site presenting data coming from a database is an example of such a view, where the hypertext pages are HTML files. Even if the most popular approach to the generation of such sites is the virtual one, there is also a rationale for a materialized apporach. This paper deals with the maintenance issues required by these derived hypertext to enforce consistency between page content and database state

    Abstract
It is shown how the semantic content of hypertext links can be used for retrieval purposes. Indexing and retrieval algorithms are presented that exploit the link content in addition to the content of the nodes. The results of some retrieval experiments in a hypertext test collection are presented

    Abstract
Most existing hypermedia authoring systems incorporate facilities for the creation of static links between pieces of information, termed nodes. Such links usually support only browsing activities over the hypermedia web, carrying little or no information about the conceptual relationship the nodes might have. Thus indecision occurs: the reader of the hypermedia can traverse a link but has no indication what link to choose and what he might expect from the traversal. At the same time, the creation of these links requires a great effort from the author, moreover if there are certain criteria that guide linking. This paper presents a two-layered hypermedia semantic model that enriches the semantic links, and alsoprovides the means for dynamic link creation. To accomplish these objectives, we adopt the use of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic as the mathematical framework for link characterization and dynamic link creation. Some aspects of a prototype system, named Platon, are also presented

    Abstract
The history of encyclopedias and wholly new forms of encyclopedias are briefly reviewed. The possibilities and problems that hypertext presents as a basis for new forms of encyclopedias are explored. The capabilities of current systems, both experimental and commercially available, are outlined, focusing on new possibilities for authoring and design and for reading the retrieval. Examples of applications already making use of hypertext are given.

    Abstract
Introduces what automatic authoring of a hypertext for information retrieval means. The most difficult part of the automatic construction of a hypertext is the creation of links connecting documents or document fragments that are related. Becaus of this, to many researchers it seemed natural to use information retrieval techniques for this purpose, since information retrieval has always dealt with the construction of relationships between objects mutually relevant. Presents a survey of some of the attempts toward the automatic construction of hypertexts for information retrieval. Identifies and compares scope, advantages and limitations of different approaches. Points out the main and most successful current lines of research

    Abstract
Hypertext for multi-media and full-text documents is rapidly developed on all fronts. For bibliographic information retrieval the applications are promising but pose several difficulties. Describes work conducted at the School of Library and Information Science at Univ. of Western Ontario the objective of which is to add the capability of a browsing search to an existing OPAC through the use of Windowed Hypertext Interface for Zippy Retrieval and Display (WHIZRD) software. Discusses the underlying retrieval capabilities of the system. Examines design problems and solutions and outlines future enhancements
