    Abstract
This piece of research traces the evolution of guidelines and principles for the construction of information retrieval thesauri from 1959 to 1993. We conclude that the majority of the basic problems of thesaurus construction has already been identified and solved by 1967 and that Eugene Wall, more than any other individual, has profoundly influenced the entire development in this area

    Abstract
Information and meaning is the third book in a trilogy exploring the nature of information, intelligence and meaning. It begins by providing an overview of the first 2 works of the trilogy, then goes on to consider the meaning of meaning. This exploration leads to a theory of how the brain works. This book differs from others in the field, in that it is written from the perspective of a theoretical biologist looking at the evolution of information systems as a basis for studying the phenomena of information, intelligence and meaning. It describes how neurons create a brain which understands information inputs and then is able to operate on such information

    Abstract
Describes the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) protocol, technology and architecture, as well as the issues which it is designed to solve. Traces the evolution of ATM and examines the applications for which ATM is likely to be used. Describes comparisons made with alternative networking technologies and matters which require further solution
