    Abstract
The book provides around 15,000 readymade class numbers relating to Indian subjects and English language and literature. It has covered four Indic religions, namely Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. For each of these religions class numbers for around fifty subdivisions of each of the impotent South Asian Languages like Assamese, Bengali, English Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi , Sanskrit Sindhi, Sinhalese, Tamil Telugu and Urdu have been provided. he numbers for other South Asian languages noticed in DDC have also been included. For literature of each of the aforementioned languages the class numbers for around 450 subdivisions have been provided. Around 750 class cumbers have been provided for English language and literature. More than 250 class numbers have been provided under the heading History including all the periods for such subjects as Architecture, Conservation of resources, Cultural contact, Economic development, Economic geography, Elections, Elementary educational, Fauna, Flora, Folk, dancing, Folk literature, Folk supply, General clubs, Geography Geology, Higher education, Journalism, Local public debt, Local taxes, Museums, Newspapers, Organizations, Painting and paintings Political situation, Postal organizations, Public administration, Public finance, Public policy on education, Revenue, Secondary education, Social problems/social welfare, Social welfare Problems and services, State taxes, Statistics, Strikes, and so on with more than 40 geographical subdivisions. In addition to this, more than a dozen class number have been provided for all the Indian states and union territories. Necessary instructions have been given as to how class numbers are to be located, and expanded when necessary.

    Abstract
Presents a detailed evaluation of the CD-ROM data base Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA), published by Library Association Publishing Ltd in partnership with SilverPlatter Information Inc. Describes the SilcerPlatter search software and gives results of test searches carried out using the CD-ROM and DIALOG on-line versions of LISA. The annual cost of subscribing to LISA on CD-ROM is 995 US dollars or 750 dollars to subscribers of other SilverPlatter data bases. LISA on CD-ROM will be of most interest to institutions which make heavy use of the on-line version and are not discouraged by the low updating frequency.

    Abstract
Interdisciplinary research has been identified as a critical means of addressing some of our planet's most urgent environmental problems. Yet relatively little is known about the processes and impact of interdisciplinary approaches to environmental sciences. This study used citation analysis and ordinary least squares regression to investigate the relationship between an article's citation rate and its degree of interdisciplinarity in one area of environmental science; viz., forestry. 3 types of interdisciplinarity were recognized - authorspip, subject matter, and cited literature - and each was quantified using Brillouin's diversity index. Data consisted of more than 750 articles published in the journal 'Forest Science' during the 10year period 1985-1994. The results indicate that borrowing was the most influencial method of interdisciplinary information transfer. Articles that drew information from a diverse set of journals were cited with greater frequency than articles having smaller or more narrowly focused bibliographies. This finding provides empirical evidence that interdisciplinary methods have made a measurable and positive impact on the forestry literature

    Abstract
Domain experts are skilled in buliding a narrow ontology that reflects their subfield of expertise based on their work experience and personal beliefs. We call this type of ontology a single-viewpoint ontology. There can be a variety of such single viewpoint ontologies that represent a wide spectrum of subfields and expert opinions on the domain. However, to have a complete formal vocabulary for the domain they need to be linked and unified into a multiviewpoint model while having the subjective viewpoint statements marked and distinguished from the objectively true statements. In this study, we propose and implement a two-phase methodology for multiviewpoint ontology construction by nonexpert users. The proposed methodology was implemented for the domain of the effect of diet on health. A large-scale crowdsourcing experiment was conducted with about 750 ontological statements to determine whether each of these statements is objectively true, viewpoint, or erroneous. Typically, in crowdsourcing experiments the workers are asked for their personal opinions on the given subject. However, in our case their ability to objectively assess others' opinions was examined as well. Our results show substantially higher accuracy in classification for the objective assessment approach compared to the results based on personal opinions.
