    Abstract
In the last 15 years social work teaching in the Netherlands has made a significant shift from concentrating on learning social, political and economic theories, towards more field practice and more learning from client cases. Describes work so far on a project to develop a model for working more systematically with client cases, to build a database with client cases and to use information and communication technology in the learning process for direct communication with field practice

    Abstract
The interdisciplinary field of information studies requires an eclectic and imaginative curriculum. Future information professionals need intellectual tools that will enable them to adapt to changed social and technological environments. In this situation, the study of classification, including both principles application for current bibliographic systems and principles of construction that could be used to develop new systems for bibliographic and non bibliographic materials, is one way to equip students with the balanced flexibility to adapt to changing needs. Knowledge of the organization of knowledge is basic to any kind of information work

    Abstract
This presentation discusses the diversity of serials librarianship and argues that cataloging is a necessary foundation for all aspects of serials work. Library school education for serials librarians should provide a solid foundation in the basics and pave the way for career long continuing education both on-the-job and through more formal mechanisms.

    Abstract
In library schools, aspects of the Internet and of electronic publishing and electronic document delivery are dealt with in varying degrees and in relation to various library tasks. With an emphasis upon activities in Germany, categorizes instructions units (Course units and continuing education events) for preparing students to use new technologies and networked information sources. Discusses the relevancy of such instructional units for content, method of instruction, practicality and level and integration within training programmes and/or the post-graduate learning experience

    Abstract
This paper analyzes the conceptual background of the two-year MSC programme in Information Science and Management offered by the Royal School of Librarianship, Denmark, on top of the traditional course in Librarianship. The present state of library and information science (LIS) education is briefly analysed. Within this context, the programme structure and contents are outlined. The conception of information science which forms the background and framework for the programme structure is analysed and discussed. This conception of LIS emphasises a more profound human-driven approach to the domains of the discipline, and views information, technology, people, and the management aspects involved from a global perspective. The anticipated epistemological consequences of the human dimension are challenged. The major experiences gained from developing the Master's programme are analysed and the current syllabus described
