- Abstract
- Der Konstanzer Bachelor- und Master-Studiengang Literatur - Kunst - Medien erfreut sich mit rund 350 Studierenden zunehmender Beliebtheit, die Bestände der Bibliothek der Universität Konstanz dazu wachsen erfreulicherweise weiter und werden -zumindest im Bereich Literatur und Kunst - nach der hauseigenen Konstanzer Systematik differenziert und frei zugänglich aufgestellt, so dass man direkt ans Regal gehen kann, um dort zu einem Thema zu browsen und sich inspirieren zu lassen. Leider trifft - inzwischen darf man sagen traf - das nicht für den Bereich Medienwissenschaft zu. Für sie gab es in Konstanz keine Systematik, lediglich eine Stelle für Mediengeschichte und eine für Medientheorie, untergebracht im Bereich "Theater, Film, Fernsehen" zwischen Rundfunk und Hörfunk, also gewissermaßen in einer klassifikatorischen Notunterkunft. Die Folge: Mangels einer geeigneten Klassifikation für die Medienwissenschaft wurden die medienwissenschaftlichen Neuzugänge in der Bibliothek seit Jahren über alle Fächer verstreut aufgestellt: Viel landete in der Soziologie, dort im Bereich Kommunikationswissenschaft, anderes landete in der Filmwissenschaft, manches in der Literaturwissenschaft oder der Kunstwissenschaft und wieder anderes in der Philosophie oder in der Kulturwissenschaft. Ziel war es, die medienwissenschaftlichen Bestände unter einer schlüssigen, hinreichend differenzierten Systematik zusammenzuführen, um es zu ermöglichen, auch hier mit Spaß in diesem Bestand zu browsen und unseren Medienwissenschaftlerinnen ein paar Kilometer beim Zusammensuchen ihrer Literatur zu ersparen.

- Abstract
- Ist der Medienbestand einer Informationseinrichtung klassifikatorisch erschlossen, kann diese Information auf vielfältige Weise verwendet werden: Die hierarchische Struktur eines Klassifikationssystems kann mit Hilfe eines geeigneten Notationssystems als Basis für die Signaturvergabe genutzt werden und so die Anordnung der physischen Medien in Regalen inhaltlich strukturieren. In Katalogen und anderen Suchsystemen dienen Klassifikationssysteme als systematischer Zugang, zur inhaltlichen Eingrenzung von Treffermengen oder als Hilfsmittel, um thematisch verwandte Medien zu einem vorhandenen Medium zu finden. Etliche Visualisierungsmethoden bauen ebenfalls auf hierarchischen Strukturen von Klassifikationssystemen auf und können für eine Analyse der inhaltlichen Zusammensetzung von (Teil-)Beständen oder Treffermengen eingesetzt werden. In diesem Kapitel werden diese unterschiedlichen Anwendungsgebiete vorgestellt und anhand von Beispielen aus der Praxis erläutert.

- Abstract
- Der Katalog der Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund stellt nicht nur einen Verfügbarkeitsraum für alle relevanten Informationen dar, vielmehr soll er darüber hinaus ein Navigationsraum für eine zeitgemäße inhaltliche Suche sein. Die Aufgabe war daher, eine automatisierte Lösung mit einer maximalen Abdeckung der eigenen Bestände zu finden, die für möglichst viele Fächer eine anerkannte Systematik bereitstellt.Mittels der unter einer offenen Lizenz veröffentlichten CultureGraph-Daten der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek wurde eine navigationsfähige Systematik auf Basis der Regensburger Verbundklassifikation entwickelt, aus der heraus sowohl auf die gedruckt als auch auf die elektronisch verfügbaren Bestände der Universitätsbibliothek (UB) zugegriffen werden kann. Ferner wurde eine direkte Einbindung in das Discovery-System realisiert, in der die Systematik mit anderen Navigatoren und Suchfiltern kombiniert werden kann. Das so entstandene Suchinstrument führt dazu, dass in der UB Dortmund künftig auf die systematische Buchaufstellung verzichtet werden kann.
