"Die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek erweitert ab Juli 2011 ihre Kataloganreicherung um Inhaltsverzeichnisse der Veröffentlichungen außerhalb des Verlagsbuchhandels (Reihe B der Deutschen Nationalbibliografie). Der seit dem Jahr 2008 für die Reihe A der Deutschen Nationalbibliografie angebotene Dienst wird damit auf den monografischen Neuzugang und auf Zeitschriftenstücktitel der Reihe B erweitert. Inhaltsverzeichnisse werden im Rahmen der Kataloganreicherung als durchsuch-bare PDF-Objekte zu den Titeldaten angeboten und können in Recherchen einbezogen werden. Suchergebnisse werden dadurch umfangreicher und können besser bewertet werden. Über die Datendienste der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek sind die Inhaltsverzeichnisse ebenfalls erhältlich. Bis Jahresende sollen allein in der Reihe B rund 10.000 Inhaltsverzeichnisse zusätzlich zur Verfügung stehen. Zurzeit sind mehr als 606.000 Inhaltsverzeichnisse mit Katalogeinträgen verbunden. 213.000 Inhaltsverzeichnisse der Zugangsjahre 2008 bis Mitte 2011 werden durch rund 124.000 Inhaltsverzeichnisse der Zugangsjahre 1913 bis 1922 ergänzt. 269.000 Inhaltsverzeichnisse wurden von Bibliotheksverbünden übernommen. Weitere Verbünde werden im Laufe des Jahres folgen. Das Projekt zur retrospektiven Kataloganreicherung wird derzeit mit den Monografien der Zugangsjahre ab 1983 fortgesetzt."

Abstract

Since its creation in 1991, arXiv has become central to the diffusion of research in a number of fields. Combining data from the entirety of arXiv and the Web of Science (WoS), this article investigates (a) the proportion of papers across all disciplines that are on arXiv and the proportion of arXiv papers that are in the WoS, (b) the elapsed time between arXiv submission and journal publication, and (c) the aging characteristics and scientific impact of arXiv e-prints and their published version. It shows that the proportion of WoS papers found on arXiv varies across the specialties of physics and mathematics, and that only a few specialties make extensive use of the repository. Elapsed time between arXiv submission and journal publication has shortened but remains longer in mathematics than in physics. In physics, mathematics, as well as in astronomy and astrophysics, arXiv versions are cited more promptly and decay faster than WoS papers. The arXiv versions of papers-both published and unpublished-have lower citation rates than published papers, although there is almost no difference in the impact of the arXiv versions of published and unpublished papers.

Abstract

Das zunehmende Bewusstsein für "Open Data" in der Bibliothekswelt eröffnet wichtige Fragen bezüglich des Umgangs mit freien Daten. Der vorliegende Text diskutiert die konzeptionellen Grundlinien einer technischen Open-Data-Infrastruktur und arbeitet die vielschichtigen Anforderungen an eine solche Infrastruktur heraus. Die behandelten Gesichtspunkte reichen von der Datenpublikation über ihre Beschreibung bis hin zur Änderungsverwaltung. Für einige Aspekte werden viel versprechende Anknüpfungspunkte identifiziert, z. B. in Gestalt von Versionsverwaltungstools aus der OpenSource-Community oder in Form von laufenden Projekten der Open Knowledge Foundation oder des W3C.
