    Seit 2 Jahren arbeitet die Dokumentationsstelle Obstbau, Berlin, mit dem Datenbanksystem FREITEXT. Das System verwaltet alle Literaturdaten der Dokumentationsstelle seit 1984. Die Daten konnten aus verschiedenen Quellen zusammengeführt werden und stehen dem Benutzer als lokale Datenbank zur Verfügung. FREITEXT hat sich als preiswertes, komfortables und zuverlässiges Retrievalsystem erwiesen

    Eine komplette Datenbankanwendung zur Literaturverwaltung auf CD-ROM und Diskette sowie viele Hinweise zum sinnvollen Umgang mit Literaturstellen, beispielsweise Recherchen, Abfrageorganisation und Zitierregeln, finden Sie in diesem Buch. Die Software unterstützt Sie bei der Verwaltung der Luiteraturhinweise. Sie können dort die entsprechenden Daten per Hand oder über die integrierten Schenittstellen zu Recherchesystemen einlesen. Durch Vorschläge zur Stichwortvergabe vereinfacht das Programm die Erfassung. Die Auswertungskriterien (nach Autoren, Stichworten, Signaturen und Fachgebieten) lassen sich am Bildschirm definieren. Deren Verhalten, Gründe für die Nicht-Nutzung und verwirklichte Anwendungen wurden ausführlich untersucht und dargelegt.Auf eine allgemeine Auswertung hin folgt ein Überblick über das ISIS-Anwendungsspektrum mit konkreten Einzeldarstellungen aller Anwender.     Describes the features of a library automation application called Micro CDS/ISIS. The software produced by UNESCO is used by more than 15.000 instituions all over the world. It is cost free and readily available. Its technical features include minimum hardware requirements, large database capacity, variable length fields, repeatable fields, subfields, powerful indexing, and rapid searching. It follows international data exchange standards. Support features include extensive documentation and a worldwide user group. Training courses in CDS/ISIS are conducted worldwide.
