    Abstract
Outlines a systematic instructional design model for developing a multimedia computer assisted instruction (CAI) courseware. The model illustrates roles and tasks as 2 dimensions necessary in a CAI production teamwork. Presents 4 major components of the process: analysis; design, development; and revision and evaluation. Identifies 8 roles that go with each component skills. Concludes that the model will be usefull in serving as a framework for developing a multimedia CAI courseware for rducators, instructional designers and CAI industry developers

    Abstract
Presents an alternative paradigm to the traditional Knowlegde Based Expert System Paradigm for developing a full-scale Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS). This alternative paradigm integrates Minsky's Frames with hypertext and has been successfully deployed in the development of PEDRO, an ITS for foreign language learning, SONATA, an ITS for music theory learning and INTUITION, an ITS for gaming-simulation

    Abstract
Describes the work performed at Ohio State Univ., Biological Sciences Library, to develop a computer based user training tutorial to provide on demand instruction for student users of the CD-ROM databases: Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts and Life Sciences Collection. Reports results of a survey performed to evaluate the tutorial indicating that it has been a success in the circumstances in which is was used. Although not an appropriate instructional tool for all students, it has proved a valuable addition to the library's CD-ROM instruction programme

    Abstract
There are many multimedia authoring packages available under MS Windows. There is none with as many outstanding features as HM-Card: HM-Card does all you expect from a modern multimedia authoring system: it allows you to combine als kinds of media: text, graphics, pictures, audio-and videoclips, and arbitrary executable files created by other programs to give you all the freedom of the world

    Abstract
Reviews 2 multimedia CD-ROM database authoring systems: Macromedia's Authorware and AimTech's Icon Author; noting both their similarities and their major differences. Concludes that, if the Mac is of primary importance, then Authorware is the favoured choice, but if links to OS/2 or UNIX matter, then Icon Author is the mist likely choice

    Abstract
Traditionally, reference librarians at Tennessee University taught basic library skills through a lecture format. Desiring to communicate more effectively with students, reduce burnout, and alleviate scheduling difficulties, the department decided to develop a computer assisted instruction (CAI) programme for English 102 classes. Discusses the development and implementation of 3 HyperCard modules to help students learn to find periodical articles, use the online catalogue, and search MLA on CD-ROM. Includes reactions from students, English instructors and librarians, and concludes with plans to develop CAI modules for other instructional needs in the future

    Abstract
A major difficulty of query writing for databases is that users do not fully understand queries. Proposes a system providing feedback to enable users to better understand their queries. It is a multi-functional rule-based system. In addition to providing an English translation for the query, it pin-points syntax errors, and suggests possible solutions. Finds likely semantic errors, and provides possible solutions. The system was implemented for a query language based on the entity relationship model. It is expected to lead to better user performance. Empirical testing showed significant improvement in user performance with the feedback system. The system can be used for computer-aided training and in actual operation
