- Abstract
- Die EDV-gestützte Erschließung der Altbestände wird in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland seit Anfang der 1980er Jahre in größerem Rahmen im Zuge der retrospektiven Katalogkonversion betrieben. Die Konversionsdaten sind lediglich geeignet, die gröbsten Defizite in der Literaturversorgung der historisch ausgerichteten Wissenschaftsdisziplinen zu kompensieren. Da sie unter Verzicht auf Autopsie erhoben werden müssen, sind sie von eingeschränktem bibliographischem Wert und bieten keinen hinreichenden Ersatz für den bislang fehlenden nationalbibliographischen Nachweis des deutschen Schrifttums vor allem des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts. Die vorliegende Untersuchung möchte Anregungen geben, wie eine auf Autopsie basierende Rekatalogisierung Alter Drucke (und damit möglicherweise auch die sukzessive Aufwertung von Konversionsdaten) hinsichtlich der wünschenswerten Erschließungstiefe, der erforderlichen bibliographischen Präzision, der notwendigen Standards und Normierungen sowie der daraus resultierenden Zugriffsmöglichkeiten im Online-Katalog aussehen könnte. Zu diesem Zweck werden mit dem 'Catalogue Automatisé des Anonymes Anciens (Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris)' und dem 'Short Title Catalogue Netherlands (Königliche Bibliothek Den Haag)' zwei bedeutende Rekatalogisierungsprojekte des europäischen Auslands mit (quasi-) nationalbibliographischer Zielsetzung und Qualität vorgestellt und analysiert

- Abstract
- Die Bedeutung der exemplarspezifischen Erschließung - also der Darstellung von besonderen Merkmalen und der Vorgeschichte eines bestimmten Buches im Katalog - ist in den vergangenen Jahren im Zusammenhang mit der Erforschung und Rekonstruktion alter und wertvoller Bestände, der NS-Provenienzforschung und der Digitalisierung gewachsen. Um gemeinsame Lösungen für die Erschließung, vor allem aber für die verbundweite Darstellung und Suchbarkeit von Exemplarspezifika zu finden, wurde eine Arbeitsgruppe der Zentralen Redaktion des Österreichischen Bibliothekenverbundes eingerichtet. Der Beitrag präsentiert die Ergebnisse der Arbeitsgruppe, die Arbeitsunterlagen für die Erschließung ebenso umfassen wie das Setup der Verbundsuchmaschine, das spezifische Suchen, exemplarspezifische Links und nicht zu-letzt die provisorische Nutzung von Normdaten erlaubt.

- Abstract
- Der Bibliotheksverbund NEBIS (Netzwerk von Bibliotheken und Informationsstellen in der Schweiz) ist der grösste Verbund wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken der Schweiz. Ihm gehören rund 140 Bibliotheken an 154 Standorten aus allen Landesteilen der Schweiz an. Im NEBIS arbeiten Bibliotheken sowohl aus der Deutschschweiz als auch aus den Französisch und Italienisch sprechenden Landesteilen. Der Anteil der nicht-deutschsprachigen Bibliotheken beträgt im NEBIS über 15 Prozent. Auf den Jahresbeginn 2016 hat der NEBIS-Verbund das bisher verwendete Regelwerk KIDS (Katalogisierungsregeln des IDS) durch das internationale Regelwerk RDA sowie die hauseigene Normdatenbank durch die deutschorientierte Normdatenbank GND abgelöst. Der Zustand der französischsprachigen Übersetzung der RDA sowie die Übersetzung der Anwendungsregeln des D-A-CH Raumes waren eine der grössten Herausforderungen bei der Einführung im Verbund. In einer mehrsprachigen Umgebung mit einer monolingualen Datenbank wie der GND zu arbeiten, bedeutete besonders für die französischsprachigen Bibliotheken viel Umstellung und Flexibilität. Die Arbeit mit deutschen Begriffen wie zum Beispiel die Berufsbegriffe in der GND erfordert sowohl von der NEBIS-Verbundzentrale wie auch von den französischsprachigen Bibliotheken einen ausserordentlichen Effort. Der NEBIS-Verbund wird auch künftig darauf angewiesen sein, dass die französische Übersetzung der RDA sowie die Übersetzung der Anwendungsregeln möglichst aktuell bleibt. Zudem wird auch im Bereich GND weiterhin eine flexible und geduldige Arbeitsweise aller Beteiligten erforderlich sein.

- Abstract
- Der avisierte Umstieg von RAK auf AACR bindet die Arbeitskraft von Bibliothekaren, ohne dass als Resultat ein zukunftsfähiges Regelwerk mit rationellen Arbeitsprozessen zustande kommen wird. Dies führt nicht nur in eine Sackgasse in der Entwicklung bibliothekarischer Informationssysteme. Bei denjenigen Spezialbibliotheken, die nicht über die arbeitsteiligen Strukturen wie eine Katalogabteilung verfügen, sondern ihre Arbeit eigenständig nach Vorgaben ihrer Institutionen und Prioritäten organisieren müssen und gegenwärtig vor viel wichtigeren Aufgaben stehen (Digitalisierung von Dokumenten, Internetangebot, Informationsvermittlung, Wissensmanagement, Verwaltungssteuerung, Kostenrechnung usw.), deren Bewältigung schon die normale Arbeitskapazität überfordert, kann dies direkt in eine Krisensituation führen. Diskussionen, Aufsätze und Fortbildung zu diesem Thema drohen somit aufgrund dieser zusätzlichen Arbeitsbelastung ein Teil dieses Problems zu werden, es sei denn, man schafft es, die gegenwärtige Situation als Anlass zu nehmen, ein wirklich zukunftsfähiges Regelwerk zu entwickeln und auch durchzusetzen. Ich erlaube ich mir daher, zehn Thesen über "Die Katalogisierung der Zukunft" vorzulegen, um eine derartige Diskussion anzustoßen. Zunächst muss allerdings auf drei wesentliche Elemente der bisherigen Diskussion eingegangen werden, damit der Blick frei wird für die eigentlichen Probleme: die stillschweigenden Voraussetzungen, die Metaphorik des Nutzens, die Paradoxa des deutschen Bibliothekswesens.
