    Abstract
    Mit dem Leitthema »lnformationskompetenz - Basiskompetenz in der Informationsgesellschaft« trägt das 7. Internationale Symposium für Informationswissenschaft der aktuellen Situation auf den elektronischen Informationsmärkten Rechnung. Informationskompetenz ist Voraussetzung dafür, wirklichen Nutzen aus den globalen Informationsangeboten zu ziehen. Immer mehr Informationsspezialisten werden gebraucht und gleichzeitig muss Informationskompetenz auch tatsächlich Basiskompetenz in unserer heutigen Informationsgesellschaft werden. Die Herausforderung ist interdisziplinär. Jenseits einer bloß technischen Ausrichtung ist z.B. sozioökonomisches, kognitiv-psychologisches, linguistisches, designerisch-ästhetisches Wissen verlangt, um Information erfolgreich erarbeiten zu können.
