- Abstract
- TELOTA (The Electronic Life of the Academy) ist eine Initiative der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, die es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, in verstärktem Maße die Möglichkeiten und Chancen der Informationstechnologie für die Akademie und ihre Forschungsvorhaben zu explorieren und umzusetzen. TELOTA betreut die Akademievorhaben in Hinblick auf die Einführung von elektronischen Arbeits- und Publikationsstrategien und trifft deshalb auf sehr unterschiedliche Bedürfnisse und Ausgangssituationen. Nach einer ersten Projektphase, in der vor allem die Breite der Möglichkeiten des elektronischen Mediums exploriert wurden, widmete sich TELOTA zwischen März 2007 und Dezember 2008 der Entwicklung von projektübergreifenden Lösungen für die Bereiche Digitale Edition, Personendatenbanken und elektronische Wörterbücher. Für die Zukunft gibt es erste Ansätze, die elektronischen Ressourcen der Akademie zu einem vernetzten Wissensportal für geisteswissenschaftliche Grundlagenforschung auszubauen. Aufgaben und Ziele von TELOTA Der vorliegende Artikel gibt einen Überblick über die Arbeit der TELOTA-Initiative der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW). Auf Initiative der "Arbeitsgruppe elektronisches Publizieren" ins Leben gerufen, widmet sich TELOTA seit 2002 der Aufgabe, moderne Informationstechnologie bewusst, geplant und nachhaltig für die Belange der BBAW nutzbar zu machen. Diese Aufgabe versteht sich sowohl im Sinne eines verstärkten Einsatzes zur Unterstützung des Forschungsprozesses als auch im Sinne einer kostenfreien Online-Präsentation von Daten und Ergebnissen für die interessierte Öffentlichkeit. Darüber hinaus soll die verstärkte "Digitalisierung" der Akademievorhaben auch den wissenschaftlichen Austausch und die Kommunikation unter Fachwissenschaftlern erleichtern und fördern (vgl. den Bericht der Arbeitsgruppe "Elektronisches Publizieren" an den Vorstand 2001). Das Akronym TELOTA steht - zusammenfassend für diese Aufgabengebiete - für "The Electronic Life of the Academy".

- Abstract
- Nach mehr als 4 Jahren Erfahrung in der kooperativen Erschließung von Internetquellen öffnet sich der Verbund Academic LinkShare für neue Partner aus den Geistes-, Regional- und Sozialwissenschaften. Academic LinkShare ist ein Netzwerk wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken. Gemeinsam bauen sie einen interdisziplinären Datenpool fachlich relevanter Internetquellen auf, aus dem sich alle Partner gleichberechtigt bedienen können. Nach mehr als vier Jahren gemeinsamer Entwicklungs- und Erschließungsarbeit lässt sich der Erfolg des Modells heute quantifizieren. Seit der Aufnahme des ersten Datensatzes Mitte 2001 sind weit mehr als 20.000 Quellen aus dem politik-, rechts-, wirtschafts- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Umfeld dazugekommen. Sie werden präsentiert in den Fachinformationsführern (qualifizierten Linksammlungen) von ViFaPol (Politikwissenschaft - http://www.vifapol.de), EconBiz (Wirtschaftswissenschaften - http://www.econbiz.de) und ViFa Recht (Rechtswissenschaft - http://www.vifa-recht.de). Jüngstes Mitglied des Verbundes sind die Europäischen Dokumentationszentren mit ihrem Rechercheportal ArchiDok (http://archidok.uni-mannheim.de). Die Einsparpotentiale liegen vor allem im hohen Überschneidungsgrad der Quellen, der - ohne Volltexte - bei ca. 30% liegt. Die Schaffung einer gemeinsamen technischen Infrastruktur allein begründet noch nicht den Erfolg des Modells. Viel schwieriger als die Entwicklung eines Erfassungssystems ist der Aufbau eines funktionierenden Netzwerks wissenschaftlicher Einrichtungen und Bibliotheken, das sich nachhaltig für den Aufbau des Datenpools verantwortlich zeichnet. Vor dem Hintergrund überaus knapper Zeitressourcen hat Academic LinkShare technische und organisatorische Lösungen entwickelt, die den Voraussetzungen der Kooperationspartner gerecht werden. Dieses Win-Win-Prinzip zahlt sich aus. Neben den fünf Verbundpartnern von Academic LinkShare beteiligen sich heute mehr als 40 wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen an der Erschließung der Quellen. Das Interesse an dem Modell des Metadata Sharing ist beachtlich - der Kreis der Mitwirkenden wächst kontinuierlich an. Academic LinkShare bietet Interessenten aus dem sozial-, geistes- und regionalwissenschaftlichen Umfeld die Möglichkeit, dem Verbund beizutreten, und unterstützt sie dabei auf der Basis der vorhandenen technischen Lösungen beim Aufbau und Betrieb einer eigenen Virtuellen Fachbibliothek. - Abstract
- Mit dem 31. Dezember 2000 wurde das Förderkonzept "Global Info" des Bundesforschungsministeriums (BMBF) beendet. Hierdurch wird weder die Förderung der Fachinformation beendet, noch wird der Bereich der Digitalen Bibliotheken aufgegeben. Einerseits wird durch die "lnformationsverbünde" die Versorgung mit fachspezifischen elektronischen Angeboten gezielt verbessert werden. Andererseits wird im Bereich der Digitalen Bibliotheken eine "Leitvision" formuliert werden, an der sich künftige Vorhaben ausrichten. Zur Vorbereitung dieser Leitvision wurde am 1.1.2001 ein Planungsprojekt gestartet, das unter dem Titel "Digital Library-Forum" für die Dauer eines Jahres die inhaltliche Ausgestaltung dieser Leitvision moderieren wird. Entsprechende Workshops und Arbeitsgruppen werden in nächster Zeit durchgeführt bzw. eingerichtet. Projekte im Digital Library-Bereich können weiterhin eingereicht werden. Entsprechend dem in Global Info etablierten Verfahren können Projektskizzen, nun aber beim Projektträger Fachinformation (PTF), eingereicht werden. Anträge werden weiterhin durch ein Gutachtergremium, das zweimal im Jahr zusammen kommt, begutachtet. Der Global Info-Server wird im Laufe des Jahres 2001 durch einen vom Projektträger Fachinformation betriebenen Server ersetzt, der darüber hinaus neue und weitreichendere Aufgaben übernimmt. Dieser Server unter der URL <www.di-forum.de> soll in Kooperation mit der DFG und weiteren Förderern betrieben werden und als Forum aller Digital Library-Aktivitäten in Deutschland fungieren

- Abstract
- MedPilot (www.medpilot.de) ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Deutschen Zentralbibliothek für Medizin (ZBMed) und des Deutschen Instituts für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information (DIMDI). Im Rahmen der Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken wird MedPilot von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) gefördert. MedPilot basiert auf der Software SISIS-Elektra, welche im Rahmen des Projektes weiterentwickelt wurde. Projektstart im August 2001, Testbetrieb seit Juli 2002, offizielle Eröffnung im Februar 2003
