    Das "Innovationsparadox" (Kapitel 1), das darin besteht, dass etwas geplant werden muss, was noch gar nicht bekannt sein kann (sonst wäre es ja keine Innovation!). Im Kapitel 8 "Innovation als evolutionärer Prozess der Wissensproduktion - Die Auflösung des Innovationsparadoxes" werden dann die verschiedenen Problemstellungen systematisch behandelt. Doch zunächst geht es erst einmal um das Phänomen der Informationspathologien (Kapitel z und 3), wie sie durch Ausschaltung von Prüfmöglichkeiten, Unterschätzung des Unwissens, Trennung von Information und Entscheidung u.v.a.m. entstehen. Auf 55 Seiten wird dieses auch besonders für Information Professional interessante Thema aufbereitet. Fachkompetenz und Positionsmacht (Kapitel 4), hier spielen Aspekte wie hierarchische Position, Ablehnung und Gegnerschaft eine wichtige Rolle, die Innovationsvorhaben fördern oder behindern können. Empfehlungen für die "Zusammenarbeit in Innovationsprojekten" sind Gegenstand des 5. Kapitels. Innovationsvorhaben laufen selten wie geplant ab. Unter der Überschrift "Mal Partizipation, mal Konspiration" geht der Autor in Kapitel 6 auf das Thema Interessen und dadurch ausgelöste Konflikte ein. Im 7. Kapitel folgt dann unter der Überschrift "Zwischen Rationalität und Anarchie-Entscheidungsprozesse bei Innovationen", wie mit Interessen und Konflikten in Unternehmen umgegangen wird. Nachdem das Innovationsparadox in Kapitel 8 bewältigt worden ist, folgt im abschließenden 9. Kapitel "Innovationsmana-gement" "... eine Zusammenschau der berichteten Ergebnisse unter dem Blickwinkel der Anwendung in der Praxis (...)" (S. 246) Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei Fragen wie "Wie kann man Innovationen initiieren, vorantreiben und zum Erfolg bringen?". Abgerundet wird das Buch durch einen Anhang mit einem ausführlichen Interviewleitfaden und einem ausführlichen Fragebogen zu Innovationsprozessen. "Innovation und Information" ist keine leichte Kost und setzt doch einige Kenntnisse der empirischen Forschung voraus, um die Ableitung bis ins Details zu verstehen. Das Buch zeigt anhand empirischer Daten, wie Innovationen in den untersuchten Unternehmen ablaufen. Das aufgezeigte Muster erscheint geeignet, um anderen Unternehmen bei der Bewältigung ihrer Informations-, Wissens- und Innovationsprobleme zu unterstützen, wobei wir dann beim Nutzen dieses Buches für Information Professionals angelangt wären."
