    Abstract
To access a remote catalogue the searcher can use the Z39.50 standard as interface, which requires appropriate software; or for databases accessible on the WWW use a common gateway interface. The multibase access advantage of Z39.50 can also be obtained through a Web navigator by inserting a Web server/Z39.50 client software connector: this can be located either on the search site, in an intermediary position or on the database site, so determining the range of databases which can be searched. Z39.50 also offers interesting possibilities for joint and local cataloguing: multibase searching can equally be realised on intranets

    Abstract
A major initiative at the Sandia National Laboratories Technical Library, New Mexico, is the provision of desktop access to information for Sandia researchers. During 1995, the library created a home page on the WWW with information on how to link to its client server based OPAC. Through multiple access points, researchers can search the catalogue from their desks and a new initiative is the provision of access to Sandia generated documents by converting them to electronic form, placing them on Sandia's 'internal Web' and linking them to the OPAC bibliographic record. Addresses the processes developed in the library and the procedures for cataloguing these electronic reports, including identification of the bibliographic information and MARC tags to be used

    Abstract
3 user interfaces to LIBIS, a library catalogue accessible via the Internet, were evaluated for use by people who are motor impaired, to identify how interface design influences the motor actions necessary to operate the system. Results confirm that minimizing the motor actions necessary for interaction with the interfaces is needed for this group and recommends improving consistency in design, optimizing instinctive awareness of how to use the system and providing informative feedback and instructive messages on how to progress. these recommendations will be validated through iterative adaptation and testing of the user interface, while designing a prototype library service
