- Im Online-Katalog erfahren Studenten auch, ob das Buch verfügbar oder verliehen ist. Ist es gerade vergriffen, kann man es vormerken lassen, er- klärt Monika Ziller, Vorsitzen- de des Deutschen Bibliotheksverbands in Berlin. Dann werden die Studenten entsprechend benachrichtigt, wenn es zurückgegeben wurde. Außerdem könnten Studenten virtuelle Fachbibliotheken nutzen, erklärt Grau. Um das Thema Slavistik kümmert sich etwa die Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. Auf der Internetseite kann man über Suchbegriffe alle elektronischen Slavistik-Angebote wie Zeitschriften, E-Books oder Bibliografien durchforsten. Die virtuelle Fachbibliothek spuckt dann eine Titelliste aus. Bestenfalls können Studenten gleich auf einzelne Volltexte der Liste zugreifen. Oder sie müssen schauen, ob die eigene Bibliothek das gesuchte Werk hat. Vor allem Zeitschriften sind oft online im Volltext abrufbar, aber auch Enzyklopädien. "Die sind auch aktueller als der Brockhaus von 1990, der zu Hause im Regal steht" sagt Grau. Manchmal ließen sich die Texte aus Gründen des Urheberrechts aber nur auf den Rechnern auf dem Unicampus lesen, ergänzt Hohoff. Findet man ein Buch nicht, ist der Grund dafür oft ein Fehler, der sich bei der Suche eingeschlichen hat. Das fängt bei der Rechtschreibung an: "Bibliothekskataloge verfügen über keine fehlertolerante Suche wie Google", erklärt Ziller.

- Abstract
- Der Verein Zukunftswerkstatt Kultur- und Wissensvermittlung e. V beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie kulturelle und wissenschaftliche Inhalte in der Zukunft vermittelt werden. Eines der großen Zukunftsthemen, dem sich auch die Bibliotheken stellen müssen, ist das mobile Internet. Immer mehr Menschen nutzen Smartphones wie das iPhone von Apple oder das Nexus One von Google. Alle diese Nutzer haben das Internet in der Hosentasche. Es ist nicht mehr der Nutzer, sondern das Internet selbst, das mobil geworden ist. Wie nie zuvor ist es Bestandteil des täglichen Lebens geworden. Die Zukunftswerkstatt hat hierzu unterschiedliche Aktivitäten gestartet-zum Beispiel auf dem diesjährigen Bibliothekskongress in Leipzig ein sogenanntes Smartphone-Happening: Jeder Besucher des Kongresses konnte vorbeikommen und ein oder mehrere Angebote aus der Welt der Apps vorstellen. Eines der Projekte, die bei diesem erfolgreichen Happening präsentiert wurden, war der mobile Opac der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek. Dabei gefiel nicht nur das Produkt an sich, sondern auch die Herangehensweise bei dessen Entwicklung, wie im folgende Beitrag zu sehen ist: Seit Anfang März 2010 verfügt die Bayerische Staatsbibliothek über eine mobile Version ihres Opacs, den OPACplus mobil. Anstatt einer eigenständigen Anwendung wurde ein Modul entwickelt, das den bestehenden Opac um die für eine mobile Anwendung benötigten Funktionen erweitert.

- Abstract
- Das Exzellenzcluster Kognitive Interaktionstechnologie (CITEC) an der Universität Bielefeld beschäftigt sich seit 2013 mit der virtuellen Realität (VR). Ausgehend von konkreten Projektkooperationen (Publikations- und Forschungsdatenmanagement) mit der Universitätsbibliothek ist die Idee entstanden, mit der in 2016 neu angebotenen Konsumer-VR-Hardware die im Labor entwickelten Interaktionstechniken auf geeignete Szenarien im Bereich von bibliothekarischen Umgebungen anzuwenden. Als interessantes Anwendungsgebiet kristallisierte sich im gemeinsamen Diskurs die Literatursuche heraus: Als Suchsystem wurde die Bielefelder BASE-Datenbank (d.i. Bielefeld Academic Search Engine mit inzwischen mehr als 100 Mio. indexierten Dokumenten) ausgewählt. Diese Auswahl erfolgte vor dem Hintergrund, dass sich die von zahlreichen externen Institutionen bereits genutzte API-Schnittstelle als universell und robust erwiesen hat und umfangreiche Funktionen bereitstellt. Auf der Grundlage der umfangreichen theoretischen und praktischen Erfahrungen des CITEC mit VRTechniken wurde der Prototyp für eine virtuelle Suchumgebung realisiert, der ein Retrieval in einem Suchraum von Online-Dokumenten erlaubt. Die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer können die Suchanfrage explorativ zusammenstellen und dabei die Ergebnisse intuitiv verwalten. Unterstützt werden sie dabei durch Ergebnisanzeige, Sortierung, Optimierung des Suchergebnisses mittels Suchverfeinerung (Drilldown-basiert) oder Anfrageerweiterung und Wiederverwendung von abgelegten Ergebnissen. Gleichzeitig wird der Zugriff- und Lizenzstatus visualisiert und die Detailanzeige der Metadaten des Objektes integriert.
