    "Insekten müssen mit einem äußerst primitiven Nervensystem auskommen. Trotzdem fällt es ihnen nicht schwer, mit den komplexen Anforderungen einer unbeständigen Umwelt fertig zu werden, Nahrung aufzuspüren, Sexualpartner zu finden und Feinden auszuweichen. Von den Insekten hat Rodney Brooks, der Künstliche-Intelligenz-Guru vom MIT, viel gelernt. In den späten 80er Jahren baute er den Roboter "Genghis", ein wespenähnliches Wesen, das Erstaunliches leisten konnte, obwohl es nur von einer Gruppe simpler Automaten gesteuert wurde. Das revolutionär Neue an "Genghis" war, dass er keine inneren Repräsentationen der Welt brauchte, weil er auf alles, was seine Sensoren registrierten, unmittelbar reagieren konnte. Inzwischen ist Brooks dazu übergegangen, Roboter zu bauen, die nicht nur einen menschenartigen Körper, sondern auch emotionale Fähigkeiten haben. Schon in 20 Jahren, prophezeit Brooks, wird es Computer geben, die die Leistung des menschliches Gehirns übertreffen. Und in absehbarer Zukunft werden die Roboter derart intelligent geworden sein, dass man ihnen einen eigenen Willen zusprechen und ihnen sogar elementare Rechte zuerkennen wird. Dass diese künstlichen Lebewesen außer Kontrolle geraten und die Macht an sich reißen könnten, schließt Brooks allerdings kategorisch aus. Die Roboter, versichert er, sind schlicht deswegen nicht zu fürchten, weil der menschliche Organismus, der ohnehin nur eine aus Biomolekülen zusammengesetzte Maschine ist, sich ihnen mehr und mehr angleichen wird. Schon heute hat man damit begonnen, lebende Zellen in Roboter zu integrieren und umgekehrt Chips in tierisches und menschliches Gewebe zu implantieren. Und bald, verkündet Brooks, wird es möglich sein, den menschlichen Körper durch Chip-Implantate zu optimieren und das Leistungsvermögen des Gehirns unermesslich zu steigern. Brooks' Fazit: Die Zukunft wird den Roboter-Menschen gehören. Doch sie werden den Robotern immer einen Schritt voraus sein. Brooks' Zukunftsszenario und sein Traum vom Roboter-Übermenschen sind philosophisch naiv, soziologisch blind und politisch gefährlich. Aber die Passagen, in denen er sich mit den Fähigkeiten und Grenzen zeitgenössischer Roboter befasst, sind eine Offenbarung. Ein provokatives Buch, das man gelesen haben sollte."

    Abstract
    Transhumanisten bringen bunte Tupfer in die aktuelle Digitalisierungsdebatte, aber auch gefährliche Blütenträume, Lobbyismus und Angst - vor den Chinesen. Wir werfen einen Blick auf die Transhumanistische Partei Deutschlands, den transhumanen Philosophen Sorgner, die mit aktueller Magnet-Hirnstimulation noch unzufriedene Medienforscherin Miriam Meckel, aber auch auf Kritiker einer allzu euphorischen Digitalisierung. Es wird sich zeigen, dass der Transhumanismus differenziert gesehen werden muss - und dass man am Ende bei aller Technik-Euphorie doch nicht um eine Kritik des Internet-Panoptikums herumkommt.
