    Abstract
    Nachdem der Arbeitskatalog des SAZI in der Zwischenzeit auf einen vielfachen Umfang angewachsen ist, wurde nun der Gesamttitelbestand in der Zeitschriftendatenbank mit Unterstützung der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft nachgewiesen. Für die Neuerstellung des Verzeichnisses, das nun sowohl deutsche als auch ausländische Periodika umfaßt, wurde der Gesamtbestand der in der ZDB nachgewiesenen Zeitungstitel herangezogen. Die Gesamtselektion umfaßt ca. 17.250 Titel, darunter nicht nur Zeitungen im engen Sinn, sondern auch zeitungsähnliche Periodika wie Illustrierte, Magazine, Amtsblätter mit redaktionellem Teil, Fachblätter bei gesellschaftlich-politischer Ausrichtung und die spezifische Presse verschiedenster Zielgruppen

    Abstract
    Der "Röhrich" informiert in leichtverständlicher Sprache und wissenschaftlich fundiert über Bedeutung, Herkunft und Anwendung von rund 15 000 Redensarten. Die Jugend- und Werbesprache unserer Zeit wurde dabei ebenso berücksichtigt wie fremdsprachliche Entsprechungen zu deutschen Redensarten. Etwa 1000 Abbildungen aus zeitgenössischen Quellen veranschaulichen den Ursprung vieler sprichwörtlicher Redensarten und bieten damit ein einzigartiges Anschauungsmaterial von kulturhistorischer Bedeutung. Umfangreiche Literaturangaben und kurze Zusammenfassungen des gegenwärtigen Forschungsstandes runden dieses einzigartige Werk ab. Interessant und anregend für alle, die praktisch oder theoretisch mit Wort und Bild arbeiten oder auch einfach nur Spaß an der Vielfalt und Treffsicherheit des gesprochenen Wortes haben: "... nicht einfach ein Zitatenbuch oder eine Spickfibel ..., (sondern) eine überaus gründliche Arbeit, die tief in die Kulturgeschichte und ins kollektive Gedächtnis der Deutschen führt" (Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger).

    Die Datenbank historisch wertvoller Landkartenbestände wurde im DBI mit dem Datenbanksystem IBAS aufgebaut und enthält die mit Förderung der DFG erschlossenen Bestände der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Nds SUuB Göttingen, BSB München (zusammen 178.800 Titel). Die Einträge der Datenbank sind im ISBD-Format aufbereitet und enthalten alle Angaben, die auch in der IBAS-online-Datenbank enthalten sind. Die Einträge liegen also in einer Art Katalogformat vor. Trotzdem kann nach jedem einzelnern Stichwort des Titels und in anderen Kategorien gesucht werden. Es kann auch nach Kategorien gesucht werden, die im gedruckten Katalog eine Nebeneintragung bewirken würden

    Abstract
    Die Umgangssprache lebt. Woche für Woche finden neue Wörter und Begriffe Eingang in den deutschen Sprachschatz - oft unbemerkt von halboffiziellen Wörterbüchern, deren Redakteure als selbsternannte Gralshüter der Sprachkultur darüber entscheiden, was richtig, .was falsch geschrieben ist, was Aufnahme finden, was ignoriert werden muß. Das erste deutsche Blödelwörterbuch aus dem Verlag mit Kompetenz in diesem Bereich schließt die schmerzliche Lücke.

    Vorwort: Tag für Tag benutzen wir unbekümmert und völlig selbstverständlich unsere Sprache, ohne uns bewußt zu machen, daß es sich um eine Muttersprache handelt. Liebe, Fürsorge, Toleranz und Geduld sind deshalb höher zu bewerten als Rechthaberei, Strenge und Disziplin. Schlägt man hingegen ein Grammatikbuch auf, so entsteht zwangsläufig der Eindruck, es mit einer Vatersprache, ja sogar mit einer Stiefvatersprache zu tun zu haben. Millionen Sprachbenutzer sehnen sich nach neuen Deutschlektionen. Sie fordern nichts Geringeres als die Erlernbarkeit der deutschen Sprache. Schon seit langem ist eine zunehmende Sprachverweigerung oder ein Auswandern in fremde Sprachen zu beobachten. Es besteht eindeutig Handlungsbedarf, um eine Katastrophe noch zu verhindern. In diesem Buch werden die mütterlichen Tugenden so weit wie möglich berücksichtigt, so daß nun eine biegsamere, verjüngte und verständlichere Grammatik vorliegt. Merksätze und Regeln ließen sich allerdings nicht vermeiden, weil sonst der Charakter eines solchen Buches Schaden genommen hätte bzw. die Ernsthaftigkeit des Themas nicht zur Entfaltung gekommen wäre. Die zwischen den Zeilen unlesbar verborgenen Bemerkungen lauten zusammengefaßt ungefähr so: Courage! Halte durch! Du schaffst es! Um Verständnis und Vergebung seien all jene gebeten, die von der nun unumgänglich gewordenen Umarbeitung der bisher existierenden Grammatikwerke betroffen sind.
