    Abstract
    Ludwig Wittgenstein hat bis heute seinen Interpreten Rätsel aufgegeben. Die komplexe Einheit seines Werkes, das sämtlich Formen menschlicher Zeichenpraxis einbezieht, ist zumeist unerkannt geblieben und auf einzelne Theoreme der Sprachanalyse und Logik reduziert worden. Der Autor rekonstruiert in Grundzügen die Einheit des Werkes von Wittgenstein aus dem Gehalt seiner Texte. Als wichtigstes Ergebnis zeigt sich die Destruktion jeder System-Philosophie zugunsten eines radikal handlungstheoretischen Denkens. Veränderungen der individuellen wie kulturellen Lebenspraxis wird zum utopischen Ziel jenseits der 'Philosophie'

    Abstract
    In den Arbeiten dieses Sammelbandes wird die Erkenntnistheorie des 'radikalen Konstruktivismus' anschaulich und folgerichtig entwickelt. In Untersuchungen zu Sprache und Kommunikation, zur kybernetischen Modellierung kognitiver Prozesse, zur Entwicklung des begrifflichen - besonders auch des mathematischen - Denkens von Kindern wird im einzelnen dargestellt, daß wir die Idee 'objektiver' Erkenntnis verwerfen müssen, solange wir streng empirisch und rational erkennen wollen. Alle Erkenntnis, alles Wissen stellt keine 'Entdeckung' einer unabhängig von uns existierenden Realität dar, sondern wird von uns erzeugt, 'konstruiert', und bleibt solange gültig als es uns zu (über-)leben hilft, als es 'viabel' ist. Daraus ergibt sich nicht nur eine dramatisch veränderte Sicht menschlicher Erkenntnis, menschlichen Lernens, Handelns und Zusammenlebens, sondern auch eine anspruchsvolle Ethik der individuellen (Über-)Lebensverantwortung

    Abstract
    Unsere Kultur ist heute durch einen Zwiespalt gekennzeichnet: Einerseits wird die Wirklichkeit im Lichte wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnis betrachtet, welche, wie Max Weber gesagt hat, die Welt "entzauberte". Andererseits haben wir nie aufgehört, mehr oder weniger uneingestanden die Begegnungen mit der Natur und den Menschen, Liebe, Geburt, Tod und andere wichtige Ereignisse auf eine nichtwissenschaftliche Weise zu erfahren, die ihre uns kaum bewußten Wurzeln im mythischen Denken der Vergangenheit hat. Dieser Zwiespalt ist der Gegenstand der seherischen Dichtung Friedrich Hölderlins, mit deren ausführlicher Deutung das Werk beginnt. Gestützt auf die moderne Mythos-Forschung werden in einem weiteren Hauptabschnitt die Grundformen mythischen Denkens und Lebens am Beispiel des griechischen Mythos und der griechischen Tragödiendichtung entwickelt. Wie irrational sind Mythen und Götter? Mit welchem Recht kann auch der Mythos wie die Wissenschaft Wahrheit für sich beanspruchen? Warum hat im Laufe der Geschichte die Wissenschaft den Mythos verdrängt? Eine eingehende Analyse des mythischen Weltverständnisses im Vergleich zur Wissenschaft führt zu überraschenden Antworten auf diese Fragen. Damit wird aber auch das verborgene Fortwirken des Mythos in der heutigen Welt aufgedeckt. Durch ausführliche Interpretationen moderner Malerei (Klee u.a.), Musik (Wagner), Theologie (Bultmann) und Politik (das Grundgesetz der Bundesrepublik) wird die Gegenwärtigkeit mythischer Vorstellungsweisen deutlich. Das Buch schließt mit der Frage, was sich daraus für die Zukunft einer Welt ergibt, die auf Wissenschaft nicht mehr verzichten kann, der aber auch, wie sich zunehmend zeigt, mythisches Welterfahren unentbehrlich ist. Historische Darstellung und philosophische Analyse zugleich, durchleuchtet dieses klar geschriebene und an innerer Spannung reiche Werk Mythos und Wissenschaft, deren Macht und Ohnmacht, und bringt damit zugleich die geistige Situation unserer Zeit auf den Begriff.

    Abstract
    Die auf dem Kongreß «Geist und Natur» in Hannover zusammengekommenen Wissenschaftler aller Disziplinen - darunter einige Nobelpreisträger - haben sich dieser Aufgabe gestellt und versucht, aus ihren unterschiedlichen Denkansätzen heraus neue, die Probleme unserer Zeit berücksichtigende Antworten auf die «letzten Fragen» zu finden wie: Was ist Geist? Was ist Natur, Materie? Was ist Bewußtsein? Was ist Zeit? Was ist Wirklichkeit?
