    Ob wir spazieren gehen, einkaufen oder uns unterhalten - ständig teilen wir die Lebewesen und Dinge, die uns umgeben, ein in verschiedene Kategorien: Bäume und Blumen, Milchprodukte und Gemüse, sympathische Menschen und unsympathische. So schaffen wir Ordnung und finden uns in der Welt zurecht wie in einer Bibliothek - alles hat seinen Platz. Diese Ordnung kommt ins Wanken, sagt David Weinberger.     Abstract
    Thema dieser Arbeit ist eine Untersuchung des digitalen Bilderhandels. Es wird die Akzeptanz und die Nutzung von Bilddatenbanken in der Bildbranche analysiert, mit dem Ziel, ein Optimierungskonzept für die Bilddatenbank der jump Fotoagentur zu entwerfen. Zur Einführung werden die Grundlagen der Bildbranche erläutert und auf die Beteiligten und ihre Aufgabenbereiche eingegangen. Es folgt eine Darstellung der Entwicklung der Digitalisierung und den dadurch verursachten Wandel des Bildermarktes. Im Anschluss werden die Möglichkeiten des Bildmanagements und deren Zusammenhang mit der Bildvermarktung aufgezeigt. Weiterhin wird das Bildmanagement-System der jump Fotoagentur näher beschrieben. Mit Hilfe der gewonnen Ergebnisse aus der durchgeführten Befragung wird ein Konzept zur Verbesserung dieses Systems erstellt. Die Erkenntnisse werden zusammengefasst und ein Ausblick auf die Zukunft des digitalen Bilderhandels gegeben.

    Abstract
    In der Informationsgesellschaft kommen auf Bibliotheken und Spezialbibliotheken insbesondere neue Aufgaben zu. Automatisierung, Digitalisierung und Virtualisierung sind die Entwicklungsstadien, in denen die Bibliotheken die infrastrukturellen Grundlagen zur Übernahme neuer Funktionalitäten legen. Die Bibliothek wird neben den gewohnten Tätigkeiten dann auch Funktionen eines Dokumentationszentrums, eines Multimediazentrums und eines Verlages übernehmen können. Am Beispiel der Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wird die funktionale Erweiterung und Anpassung an die durch die digitale Revolution und neue Telekommunikationstechnologien geschaffenen Bedingungen geschildert.

    Abstract
    Naturgemäß zieht jede interdisziplinäre Auseinandersetzung, wie hier zum Thema Semantic Web, Ungereimtheiten auf begrifflicher Ebene nach sich. "Wenn die Begriffe nicht klar sind, breitet sich Unordnung aus" weiß man spätestens seit Konfuzius. Dieses Kapitel soll daher jene zentralen Begriffe der Semantic Web-Entwicklung einführen und weitgehend definieren, die dann in den einzelnen Kapiteln jeweils in unterschiedliche Kontexte gesetzt werden. Anhand des "A-0-1-Modells des Semantic Web" werden schließlich jene drei Betrachtungsweisen zueinander in Beziehung gesetzt. denen in der derzeitigen Entwicklungsstufe des Semantic Web die jeweils höchste Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird: Anwenderkontext, Organisations-Kontext und (technische) Infrastruktur. Es eignet sich als Orientierungshilfe, uni die unterschiedlichen Zielsetzungen in der Auseinandersetzung mit semantischen Technologien und dem Semantic Web zu einem "Big Picture" verschmelzen zu lassen, und um damit etwaige Missverständnisse. die immer dann entstehen, wenn unterschiedliche Standpunkte eingenommen werden, zu vermeiden.

    "Der immer noch als "Internet-Suchmaschine" firmierende Mega-Konzern Google legt nun auch seine Hände auf Zeitungen. Er will ein Online-Archiv für Zeitungen aus aller Welt aufbauen. Nutzer sollen Artikel durchsuchen und Seiten im Original-Layout samt Fotos und Anzeigen aufrufen können, erklärte die Firma am Montag bei der Technologie-Konferenz Techcrunch 50 in San Francisco. Man habe bereits Millionen von Artikeln eingescannt. Wie viele Zeitungen derzeit schon mitarbeiten, teilte Google nicht mit. Die Archivierung sei Teil der Strategie, "Offline-Inhalte in das Internet zu bringen", sagte Google-Vizepräsidentin Marissa Mayer. Man wolle Lesern "helfen", von der Lokalzeitung bis zum größten überregionalen Blatt "alle zu finden", hieß es im offiziellen Blog des Konzerns. Anders als bei der Digitalisierung von Büchern will man bei dem Zeitungsprojekt die Zustimmung der Verleger einholen. Die Kosten fürs Einscannen trägt Google, denn man spekuliert auf eine lukratives Geschäft durch die Anzeigen, die man neben den Suchergebnissen platzieren will. Die Verleger sollen einen - von Mayer aber nicht bezifferten - Anteil des Umsatzes erhalten. Der Bundesverband Deutscher Zeitungsverleger (BDZV) verweist darauf, dass die Verlage gefragt würden, ob sie der Google-Nutzung zustimmen. Für einige Blätter könne die Zusammenarbeit interessant sein - gleichwohl würden die Inhalte "aus der Hand gegeben", sagte eine BDZV-Sprecherin."
